AEW Dynamite - Best and worst- Sting's first match revealed, Big mistake with Jon Moxley?

Jon Moxley took far too long to win his match
Jon Moxley took far too long to win his match

This week's edition of AEW Dynamite had its ups and also, had its downs in equal measure. It was certainly a better show than RAW was, earlier in the week, but that's a pretty low benchmark, considering that this week's episode did not deliver at all.

AEW Dynamite was the calm before the storm prior to the incoming tempest called Beach Break that is certain to engulf us all in pro wrestling action. It did set the stage nicely for the upcoming extravaganza, and so, job well done on that front.

Check out our best and worst in this list. Feel free to agree or disagree with our assessment in the comments.

The best thing about AEW Dynamite is how fast-paced the show is considering the show is over before you know it, on most weeks.

#1 Best: Has Sting's first match on AEW Dynamite been confirmed at last?

For weeks, the question on everybody's mind has been when Sting will officially step into an AEW ring as an active competitor. As intimidating as his presence is on AEW Dynamite every week, with the snow and everything, there comes a point where the novelty wears out.

It does seem like Sting and Darby Allin will team up, at a future date, for a street fight against Team Taz, and this is the perfect AEW Dynamite debut opportunity for Sting.

Because of the nature of the fight, much smoke and mirrors could be employed, to conceal the fact that Sting is no longer in his prime, at the advanced age of 61.

It also allows Sting to use his baseball match, which is certain to bring back a sense of nostalgia with older fans, who've grown up watching Sting decimate the nWo.

#1 Worst: Jon Moxley took far too long on AEW Dynamite to defeat his opponent

In the preview to AEW Dynamite, it wasn't announced who Jon Moxley's opponent would be, so one had to assume that it would be a squash match. And it needed to be one because this is a man who was the World Champion not long ago, who's fallen down the ranks, who needed a big win to remind us why he's still the biggest star on this show.

However, Nick Comoroto, who, to his credit does look like he could be a future star, had quite the impressive showing against Jon Moxley on AEW Dynamite this week. While it's a big step up for him, this was not the match that Moxley needed to have, quite honestly.

If Tony Khan is truly invested in Comoroto, he should have played a package on AEW Dynamite to showcase who the guy is, because not as many people tune in to watch Dark every week.

Cody Rhodes took far too long to defeat Peter Avalon as well, but at least we've seen him before.

#2 Best: The AEW Dynamite main event was great in every aspect, except for one thing (which is discussed in the following slide)

The AEW Dynamite main event saw The Inner Circle slug it out in a very entertaining contest indeed. If you were in two minds about whether or not 6 heels would be able to mix it up and have a good, competitive bout, the answer is that they certainly can and they did! And the fact that MJF cheated to win in a match with five other heels, just puts him over as the biggest bad guy of the faction.

People are upset on social media after AEW Dynamite, in the age where the business has been exposed, which is a great indicator of MJF's ability to get under your skin.

There was just one aspect of the AEW Dynamite main event that did not hit home and we'll discuss it on the following page. That aside, everything about this match was awesome, and with due respect to The Hurt Business, The Inner Circle has to be the best faction on television.

#2 Worst: Chris Jericho attempts a Lionsault on AEW Dynamite and is part of an unfortunate botch

Chris Jericho attempted a Lionsault on AEW Dynamite this week that did not look good at all, and maybe it's a sign that this move should be retired. Chris Jericho is still part of some of the best matches of the night, but the issue is that we've all grown up watching him perform at the highest level. Wrestling fans don't forget and neither do they forgive easily, as we can see from reactions to this move on social media.

Chris Jericho has toned down his offense over the years, and the 'Judas Effect' move that he employs on AEW Dynamite these days is an evolution of his style, which is something he needs to do for the rest of his arsenal as well.

People have come to expect so much from Jericho because of the level of matches he's put on over the years, that botches like the one we saw on AEW Dynamite just leave them disappointed.

#3 Best/Worst: The AEW Dynamite segment with the butler and the best friend

Let's start this section by putting Leyla Hirsch over because she put on a clinic on AEW Dynamite with Penelope Ford. In fact, it wouldn't be outside the realm of possibility to admit that she's one of the select few in the AEW Dynamite roster, that feels like she could be an 'equal' to Hikaru Shida, in terms of pure in-ring skills at this point in time.

However, the post-match segment with Chuck Taylor, Miro, and Orange Cassidy, was, well, what you'd expect from a plot that's been taken from Seinfeld. It was far too goofy for this reviewer, and he's grown up on Seinfeld.
