Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D., won the AEW Women’s Championship at Double or Nothing in 2021. Baker had to go through a lot to reach the top of the women’s roster in AEW. Injuries and setbacks have not been able to slow down Baker, who is now one of the biggest names in the wrestling industry.

Over the past few years, Britt Baker has worked hard to make it big in wrestling. At the same time, she is juggling between her career as a dentist and making things work well inside the ring.

Fans already know that Baker is a real-life dentist and is in a relationship with former NXT Champion Adam Cole. However, there are a few interesting things that you may not know about the wrestler. Take a look at the five lesser-known facts about AEW Women’s Champion, Britt Baker.

#5. AEW couple Britt Baker and Adam Cole met on Bumble

At All Out 2021, Adam Cole made his first appearance in AEW. Cole came out to align with Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks.

Behind the scenes, Cole is in a real-life relationship with Britt Baker. While Cole and Baker didn’t work together in WWE for too long, they’ve shared a healthy relationship off-screen.

What many fans may not know is the fact that the two AEW stars met on the popular dating app Bumble. During an interview with Chris Van Vliet in 2020, Britt Baker spilled the beans on how the two wrestlers met a while back.

"So, because we’re both wrestlers, but we actually met on Bumble, a dating app. I was in Hershey, PA for a dental school conference and he came on Bumble but it just didn’t look like him because he had his hair back and normal clothes on and anytime I’ve ever seen him in a wrestling ring he’s like soaking wet, his hair is dripping wet, he has no clothes on, pro-wrestling, right? And it said his name was Austin, so for me, I’m like, this guy looks so familiar but I don’t know Austin and then it finally clicked and we started talking from there, and then it took us awhile to go on a date, I was kind of hesitant because he’s not the most likable character on TV and is kind of evil, but it was after New Japan, when he got home from New Japan, we went on a date, and it was ever since then, and now I live in Orlando with him," Britt Baker said. Even though the two are currently part of the same wrestling company, it’s interesting that they met through a dating app. That’s one crazy story.

#4. Britt Baker competed in a match on WWE RAW before joining AEW

Britt Baker has come a long way in her wrestling career. In September 2018, WWE NXT fed Baker to Shayna Baszler in a quick squash victory for the latter.

However, that wasn’t the only major match Baker competed in WWE. Two years before her loss to Baszler, Baker appeared as an enhancement talent on WWE RAW. She competed against Nia Jax and took some big blows from The Irresistible Force before taking the pin.

Britt Baker spoke about the fateful night during an interview with Figthful.com.

"That night, the referee John Cone pulled me aside and said 'I think you're going to be wrestling Nia Jax tonight.' I thought it was a joke and there's a hidden camera. I was like 'okay.' At that point there had been no enhancement matches for the women, it just wasn't a thing. He was like 'go put on your gear, we're going to have you bump around a little bit.' Is this real? Sure enough, (that was) Nia's first night on RAW, they're going to debut her. This is the first Raw after the brand split of RAW and Smackdown. It's her first match on RAW after coming up from NXT. You can only imagine how nervous I was, trying to get in the ring with Nia Jax on her RAW debut. There was so much pressure," said Baker.

While her first match in WWE came under a lot of pressure, Britt Baker has managed to become a natural in AEW. Despite being in the wrestling world for a short time, she has been able to make a name for herself.

#3. A real-life WWE couple helped AEW Women's Champion Britt Baker work on her wrestling skills

Adam Cole’s arrival in AEW will hopefully allow fans to see him and Britt Baker perform together.

Surprisingly, a real-life WWE couple helped train Baker during her early days. While studying dentistry, she trained in Absolute Intense Wrestling in Cleveland, Ohio, under Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae.

Gargano and LeRae are among the best wrestling couples in the wrestling industry, and the two helped the AEW Women’s Champion reach where she is today. Britt Baker spoke highly of The Poison Pixie during a recent interview with Uproxx.

“Candice LeRae actually helped train me, and even to this day she’ll watch my shows, watch the matches, she’s always checking in on me, like when I was injured, she was always making sure I was okay. She really helped me in all aspects of wrestling, kind of teaching me the ropes behind the scenes —what to do, what not to do. And obviously in the ring, she helped me learn the art of professional wrestling. She’s somebody I will always be thankful for, that I have her in my life, and get to sit under her learning tree. Because she’s really done it all, when she was on the independent scene. Now that she’s on a platform where she gets to show the world what she’s capable of? I wish her the best and then some. And she still, even to this day, has so much more that she’s capable of that the world has not seen. And they just need to sit back and wait, because Candice LeRae is literally one of the best wrestlers in the world.”, said Britt Baker.

It’s great to see that even though LeRae and Britt Baker are working on rival promotions, The Poison Pixie is still ready to reach out and check on her student.

#2. Britt Baker won several championships in a short time before becoming the first woman to sign with AEW

Before joining AEW, Britt Baker worked on several different independent promotions. The wrestler proved to be successful in many of them, and that allowed her to get a big boost in her career.

Britt Baker made her professional wrestling debut at an International Wrestling Cartel (IWC) event in 2015. She ended up winning the IWC Women's Championship twice in her career. It took her just four years to sign on to one of the biggest wrestling promotions in the world today.

In 2019, Britt Baker became the first woman to sign with AEW. This put a lot of pressure on Baker, who had to prove herself once again.

“I always like to keep the mentality that the next big thing is steps ahead of you, because if not it's really easy to get discouraged and stay down on yourself. But I definitely did not see [2019] being quite so explosive in my world, per se," Baker told Sportskeeda. "I was the first woman signed to AEW so I was catapulted right away to the top just for that basic fact... But now there's a Women's Championship introduced, so now to be the best you have to be the champion. So I don't want to just be the first woman signed anymore, I want to be the World Champion and that's exactly what I'm gonna do."

Baker spoke to Sportskeeda last year about her ambition to win the world title, and she did just that at AEW Double or Nothing 2021. Sky's the limit for Baker, who is now one of the most recognizable female wrestlers in the industry.

#1. Tony Schiavone is one of Britt Baker’s closest friends in AEW

Britt Baker truly found her own after turning heel on AEW Dynamite. However, she believes her heel turn wouldn’t have worked if it hadn’t been for her best friend Tony Schiavone.

Britt Baker targeted Schiavone for being a former Starbucks barista during one of her best promos. The AEW Women’s Champion spoke highly of the AEW commentator during an interview on Talk is Jericho.

"Tony, I can not say enough good things. He is the best. He accidentally butt-dialed me when he was shopping in the liquor aisle last week so we FaceTimed for a second. There's something about him where he's so calming, but he also feeds off the verbal abuse so well. He helps my character so much because he plays along better than anybody in the entire locker room could because of who he is and what he does and how he interacts. He's such a good sport about everything and will have ideas to make things better. He's really like my tag partner. I'm so thankful to him," said Baker on Talk Is Jericho. [h/t Fightful]

It’s great to see that the AEW star is close to an experienced individual in the company. This partnership could really help Britt Baker get ahead in her career.
