A rising AEW star's momentum was derailed a few months ago when he suffered an injury. Amidst his recovery following surgery, he underwent another medical procedure and provided an update regarding his condition.
The star, who was a former FTW Champion, is Brian Cage. Earlier this year, the superstar suffered an injury and underwent surgery on his leg. In a surprising turn of events, Cage was back in the gym just days later, with the exact nature of his injury unknown at that point.
In a recent Instagram post, the AEW star revealed that he had undergone surgery to repair a quad tendon and was working out in the gym just days later. Recently, he underwent another operation for knee replacement last week.
"4 days post knee replacement (8 weeks post quad tendon repair) and I'm already back in the gym @projectwellbeingllc."
The 41-year-old star further revealed in the caption that he had been dealing with knee issues for years. He was positive he would return stronger following his recovery from the second surgery he underwent.
"I've been dealing with excessive knee pain for years and have been working through it with the intention of going under the knife after All In. With the unfortunate set back of tearing my quad, I figured F it, let's just get em both done. Not an easy or fun choice, but I'm gonna come back ripping heads off. Especially if this is me right now after surgery."
The Machine had been absent from All Elite Wrestling since March 2025. Moreover, it was reported by Dave Meltzer that he suffered the injury at an independent show.
Brian Cage is happy with AEW and revealed the time left with the company
Brian Cage has been a part of AEW for many years now. Last year, in an interview with the Lightweights Podcast, The Machine revealed that he had six years left on his current contract and did not want to wrestle for other promotions, as he was happy in the Jacksonville-based company.
"I don't see myself going anywhere else. With how long I've been there and how long my contract is for and everything else, it makes sense to stay put, and I'm happy with that."
With the top star recuperating from one setback after another, we hope to see him get healthy and lay his dominance inside the All Elite Wrestling ring soon.
