530+ days after their first match ever, a heavyweight AEW star wants another go at Samoa Joe (Exclusive)

An AEW star has expressed his desire to wrestle again against current World Champion Samoa Joe. The star in question is none other than Brian Cage.

On the November 2, 2022, episode of AEW Dynamite in Baltimore, Samoa Joe defended his Ring of Honor TV Title against Brian Cage. The match featured exciting maneuvers, however, Joe would go on to put Cage in the Coquina Clutch submission move to pick up the victory.

In a recent exclusive interview with Sportskeeda Wrestling's Bill Apter, Brian Cage revealed he would like to face Samoa Joe again in All Elite Wrestling.

"Samoa Joe and I had one encounter here in Baltimore. He and I had a one-on-one match. I would like another go with Joe because I felt like I get trolled about 90 percent of that matchup." [From 01:48 to 02:03]

Cage's last match in AEW was on March 6, 2024, episode of Dynamite where he failed to defeat HOOK for the FTW Championship. It will be interesting to see if Tony Khan books a match between these two heavyweights in the future.

Samoa Joe wants to face Kazuchika Okada for the AEW World Title

AEW World Champion Samoa Joe has been on top of All Elite Wrestling ever since winning the title in December 2023. Following his win at the Worlds End, Joe has successfully defended his championship against HOOK, Swerve Strickland, and Hangman Page.

The Samoan Submission Machine has been a dominant champion and it seems like he will have no problem putting his title on the line against an opponent he's never faced.

During an interview with Sports Illustrated, Samoa Joe noted that defending his title against The Rainmaker Kazuchika Okada would be a unique match for the fans as he has never gone one-on-one against the former NJPW star.

"That’s another first-time, fresh matchup you won’t see anywhere else. He can come get it, too. That’s for anyone. If someone feels like they want it, then show up–and we’ll see what you’ve got. But if you come up lame, I will laugh in your face." [H/T: Sports Illustrated]

Samoa Joe is set to defend his AEW World Title against Swerve Strickland at this Sunday's Dynasty pay-per-view. If Joe manages to retain his title, a feud with Kazuchika Okada will surely be an interesting one.
