AEW has been on a roll throughout much of 2025 so far, and the company is bringing out the big guns in the lead-up to All In: Texas next month. However, one recently returned star has revealed that she wasn't exactly excited to make her comeback.
Tay Melo had been out of action for two years before returning during AEW's Fyter Fest special last week. Unfortunately, the Brazilian star is dealing with some issues at home that have split her attention. This past weekend, she apologized to fans for missing an appearance due to her young daughter, Luna, having a fever.
It seems that Luna is at the forefront of Tay's mind. On the latest edition of Sammy Guevara's blog, Melo revealed that, while she missed her colleagues, she was worried about being away from her daughter:
“I lost a nail. I feel tired. I feel—I don’t know. I don’t know how to feel. I miss people so much, it’s such a different vibe. It’s like, I do want to do the matches and segments, but at the same time I miss Luna so much. I just wanna go home. It’s almost like I wish I could be in both places at once.”
She admitted that she couldn't be excited about her return because, although she loves her job, she just wanted to be at home with her family:
“Yeah, everybody’s like, ‘Are you excited?’ and I’m like, ‘No. I just wanna see Luna. I wanna breastfeed and sleep.’ I love my job, don’t get me wrong, but man, there’s nothing better than my daughter and husband—laying in bed, talking, and laughing together.” [H/T Ringside News]
AEW star Sammy Guevara shares heartfelt message with Tay Melo
Yesterday, June 9, Tay Melo celebrated her 30th birthday. Her husband, AEW's Sammy Guevara, marked the occasion with a heartwarming post on social media.
Guevara has been working hard while Melo has been out of action, but the two have still made sure to spend time together as they raise their daughter, Luna. The Spanish God took to X yesterday with a loving tribute to his wife on her birthday:
"I’m so happy I’ve gotten to be next to you as we traveled the world or beat people up in the ring or watching you go super saiyan Tay as you gave birth to Luna. It’s always an adventure even if we are just going to the store. Thank you for being an amazing wife and an amazing mother to our daughter. Happy birthday my love. I feel so lucky we get to do this forever ❤️."
Melo is scheduled to compete in her first AEW match in more than two years this Wednesday. Whether she'll be able to make it to the show after her daughter's illness remains to be seen.
