Bryan Danielson recently retired as a full-time wrestler following his loss to Jon Moxley at WrestleDream. The American Dragon has now provided a major life update.
Danielson surprised the world last year when he announced that he was in his final year as a full-time wrestler. And what a year it has been since then. The American Dragon won the Owen Hart Cup and then put his career on the line against Swerve Strickland at AEW All In.
Bryan emerged victorious at the Wembley Stadium and became the AEW World Champion. Following this win, he hinted that he would leave full-time wrestling when he lost the title. Danielson was shocked at All Out when his Blackpool Combat Club stablemates betrayed him. Jon Moxley then challenged him for the title and won at WrestleDream. Following the match, Wheeler Yuta choked out The American Dragon with a plastic bag. Since then, he has not been seen on AEW TV.
Bryan Danielson recently appeared on The Nikki & Brie Show, where he spoke about his life after retirement.
A top AEW star has fired back at his critics HERE.
"Since my last match, just think of the daddy-son time, daddy-daughter time. I've been able to have that I wasn't able to have before," he started. "There's been that. There's also been less on my plate. Very rarely do I think I struggle with that. But that's been really nice for me because I can just sit there and feel, it's almost like a meditation where I'm not meditating." [H/T WrestlingInc.]
Bryan Danielson addressed his neck issues
Bryan Danielson has had a long history of neck issues dating back to his time in the WWE. This forced him into temporary retirement several years ago, and when he joined AEW, his injuries continued to persist. He suffered another neck injury after taking a devastating Tiger Driver from Will Ospreay. However, now that he has retired as a full-time competitor, he has the chance to fix these injuries.
During the same episode of The Nikki and Brie Show, the topic switched to the fact that wrestlers never stay retired. Danielson said he was always careful about using the word "retirement." For now, he is unsure about his neck.
"I was very cautious not to say retirement, except for the match [at All In against Swerve Strickland] where if I lost I retired. We don't know what's gonna happen with my neck, but it honestly feels like I've got a bobblehead." [H/T WrestlingInc.]
It will be interesting to see if Bryan Danielson will return to the ring again or if he will stay retired for good.
