AEW just held its first-ever four-hour Fyter Fest event, and now officials are preparing for the inaugural four-hour Summer Blockbuster. Tony Khan continues to switch things up in his seventh year as a promoter, and it seems to be paying off. The Jacksonville-based promotion just received a much-needed positive update headed into the weekend.
All Elite Wrestling's sixth Fyter Fest event was held this week in Denver. The format was changed as Dynamite and Collision aired on the same night and same channel. AEW World Champion Jon Moxley beat Mark Briscoe in the non-title opener, while International Champion Kenny Omega retained in the Fatal 4 Way Dynamite main event. Will Ospreay defeated Lio Rush in the Collision opener, then The Paragon and Daniel Garcia defeated The Don Callis Family in the 8-man main event.
Fyter Fest VI drew 655,000 viewers on TBS for the first two hours of Wednesday's show, according to Programming Insider. This is up 3% from last week's post-Double or Nothing edition of Dynamite, and the third-highest total audience for the standard two-hour block since March 26.
Fyter Fest drew a 0.18 rating in the key 18-49 demographic for the first two hours, up 12% from last week's 0.16 key demo rating. This is the highest rating in that demographic since March 19, and tied for the third-highest of the year for Dynamite. The two-hour block from 8-10pm ranked #8 for the night on cable TV among all primetime broadcasts.
Many fans immediately tuned out as soon as the Collision portion of Fyter Fest VI began. AEW drew 380,000 viewers and a 0.10 key demo rating for the Collision portion that aired from 10pm until midnight. Viewership for the second half of Wednesday's special was down 25% from the pre-empted Collision episode that aired on May 31, while the key demo rating for Collision was down 44% from the same May 31 episode.
To compare with the Dynamite that aired on the same week in 2024, viewership for the first two hours was down 17.1%, while the key demo rating was down 36% from the same episode that aired one year ago. Viewership for the second half was down 2.1% from the Collision episode that aired one year ago, and the 18-49 key demo rating was down 23% from Collision one year ago.
Fyter Fest's two-hour Collision block aired outside of primetime, which prevented it from making the top 10, but this would have tied the show for 10th spot on the chart. The Dynamite portion of Fyter Fest 2025 went head-to-head with Game One of the NHL Stanley Cup Finals on TNT, which topped the night on cable with 2.086 million viewers and a 0.64 key demo rating.
