Konnan thinks former WWE star has "zero charisma," suggests he shouldn’t be on AEW TV

Wrestling veteran Konnan criticized a former WWE Superstar over an AEW spot. The star being discussed is Trent Beretta, who worked in WWE from 2007 to 2013.

The Best Friends were one of the top tag teams in AEW since the promotion's inception. The fan-loved faction separated after Trent Beretta turned heel on Orange Cassidy on the April 3, 2024, episode of Dynamite.

On the May 8 edition of AEW Dynamite, the duo faced off in a grudge match, in which Cassidy scored a victory over his opponent in a classic match. In one instance, Trent hit a vicious piledriver to the former International Champion on the steel steps; however, within moments, the latter stood up on his legs.

Speaking on Keepin' It 100 Official, Konnan criticized Orange Cassidy for quickly getting up from that piledriver, as he barely sold the move. He also slammed Trent for having no charisma and not doing anything significant since coming to AEW.

"Here's a problem with me with that match with the two. Number 1, Trent Beretta is straight tumbleweeds and crickets. He has zero charisma, never has, and maybe never will. And it hurts when you are not charismatic. He hasn't really done anything in five years. And bro there are turning him heel and he's getting heat on Orange Cassidy and then he does a beautiful piledriver on the steps, where he should have them left laying and should have taken in an ambulance but no this guy came back from that." Konnan also claimed Trent Beretta and Orange Cassidy shouldn't be on TV.

"It seems like Tony likes him 'cause he uses him a lot. And I've always said nobody cares who I like, who my boss likes, who Tony likes. You've gotta put what's best for business on TV and I don't know this is it." (04:27 - 04:41)

Bully Ray weighed in on the controversial AEW spot

WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray also criticized the spot and expressed his unhappiness over it.

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Bully said that not selling a piledriver may hurt the credibility of such a great move.

“Here is my constructive criticism on that particular moment in time and that story. Don’t ever do it again. It’s wrong. You are taking the piledriver on the steel steps and the move that was done afterwards, and throwing it out the door. There’s gotta be legitimacy, credibility to something. If you wanted him to just stand up, why not give him a regular piledriver?"

It will be interesting to see where does Orange-Trent story goes in the future.
