A former WWE star wants to face Mercedes Mone in a dream match. This star was recently released from the company.
Shotzi was with WWE for several years, although she spent most of her tenure in NXT, where she was featured prominently. She made it to the main roster in 2021 before she moved back down to NXT. After spending several months on the black and silver brand, she departed the company last month when her contract expired. During her time in WWE, she competed against some of the top women on the roster, including Mercedes Mone.
During her recent appearance on the Podcast Heat Wrestling YouTube channel, she was asked if she would like to compete against The CEO again. Shotzi replied that squaring off with Mercedes changed her as a wrestler, and she wants to go toe-to-toe with this new version of The CEO.
"Honestly, working with her on the main roster and theneven the tag match that I had with Tegan (Nox) against her and Bayley, it changed me as a wrestler. Every time I get in the ring with her, I grow, and she’s grown so much since joining AEW. So I wanna see what this new version of Mercedes Moné is. Yeah, I wanna go toe-to-toe with her. This new version.” [H/T Fightful]

Mercedes Mone opened up about her WWE departure
Before arriving in AEW, Mercedes Mone wrestled in WWE for several years under the ring name Sasha Banks. She was involved in many iconic moments and played a significant role in elevating the women's division to the next level. However, she walked out of the company in 2022 due to creative differences. Since leaving the Stamford-based promotion, she has done very well for herself in AEW.
During a recent edition of her Mone Mag newsletter, The CEO stated that she could never imagine her life without WWE but now understands that she can't live without professional wrestling. She also noted that she is proud to be one of the highest-paid women in the industry.
“Growing up, WWE was everything to me. I never imagined my life without it. But over time, I've come to realize that it's not WWE I can't live without... it's pro wrestling itself. I remember a higher-up once telling me, ‘The grass isn't greener on the other side.’ Well, let me tell you... every seed I've planted over the years is growing and flourishing like never before. Becoming the highest-paid women's wrestler is a beautiful flower that has blossomed, and I couldn't be prouder. Keep chasing your dreams because no one will stop mine,” Mone said. (H/T Mone Mag)
Mercedes Mone is set to challenge Toni Storm for the AEW Women's World Championship at All In: Texas next month.
