On a recent edition of Woo Nation Uncensored, WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair was asked about his thoughts on AEW star Buddy Matthews (f.k.a. Buddy Murphy) joining the company. Flair had many kind words to say about the former Cruiserweight Champion.

During his tenure in the company, Matthews won the NXT Tag Team Championship alongside Wesley Blake and won the WWE Cruiserweight Championship by beating Cedric Alexander in his home country of Australia.

During the final stages of his WWE tenure, Matthews aligned himself with Seth Rollins, and they ended up feuding, resulting in Buddy beating Rollins. He was then released from his WWE contract in June of 2021.

Ric Flair, on his podcast, spoke about Buddy Matthews showing up in AEW and heaped praise on him, stating that he used to tell him that he was better than Seth Rollins.

"I have a special place for Buddy Murphy. I like Buddy Murphy a lot. I used to tell him, 'You're better than Seth Rollins'," Flair said. [0:14 - 0:24]

Upon being asked what he likes about Buddy Matthews, he said that he is an extremely talented worker.
