The fifth-anniversary special episode of AEW Dynamite featured several amazing matches and memorable moments. The marquee event was held at the Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Interestingly, veteran commentator Taz was brutally attacked in the parking lot ahead of the show. The reported assault was so extreme that the former ECW World Champion had to be hospitalized. A few hours ago, he shared an update on his situation on X (Twitter), revealing that the attackers ''destroyed'' his leg. Later, the 56-year-old warned the perpetrators with a chilling message.
"There is going to be HELL to pay, and not by me." Taz posted.

Even Taz's son, HOOK was asked about this assault, and he revealed that he was unaware of the identity of the attackers. The former FTW Champion was in tears during the backstage interview as he vowed to exact revenge.
"You start stuff with my family; I’m going to find out who did it, and I’m going to come for you!” HOOK said.
AEW's Taz possesses fatherly traits but is intimidating, says veteran
Former WWE Hardcore Champion Maven won the inaugural season of Tough Enough in the Stamford-based promotion in 2001. The season's trainers were Taz, Al Snow, Jacqueline, and Tori. Interestingly, he made his in-ring debut against Taz during an episode of SmackDown in October 2001.
During an interview with Bill Pritchard of WrestleZone in November 2023, the 47-year-old revealed that though the current AEW commentator was quite intimidating, the latter possessed fatherly traits.
"Intimidating, aggressive. Taz was the trainer that we had that set the tone. Al was more of a father figure. Taz was the father figure that you’re kind of a little bit afraid of. I think in any good household. You have that loving figure for most households; usually, it’s the mother," Maven said. [H/T: Wrestle Zone]
Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see if Taz returns to AEW TV next week.
