An AEW fan-favorite who had been signed with the promotion for many years now is officially set to become a free agent. The star in question, Abadon, is gearing up to ply their trade elsewhere.

The Living Dead Girl made their All Elite Wrestling debut against Hikaru Shida back in March, 2020, and signed a contract with the Jacksonville-based company a few months later in June. They battled top names like Shida and Britt Baker, impressing viewers with their uncanny persona as well as their in-ring mannerisms and proficiency. For most of their run, however, the Colorado-native competed on AEW's former YouTube show Dark, with only a handful of appearances on Dynamite, Rampage and Collision to their name.

Late last month, Abadon took to social media to reveal that their All Elite Wrestling contract would expire in June, and that the company would not renew it. A few hours ago on X/Twitter, the 33-year-old revealed that the following day was their last with AEW, after which they will officially become a free agent. They also sought out bookings, presumably to wrestle on the indies and in other promotions.

Despite not wrestling inside an All Elite ring since the end of 2023, Abadon did make a number of appearances on ROH throughout last year and even during a taping this past February.

Konnan on AEW and Tony Khan's utilization of Abadon

Abadon's last AEW match pit them against Julia Hart in a TBS Championship bout at Worlds End 2023, a bout which they lost. The Zombae was not utilized on television in 2024 despite being under contract. Addressing their All Elite Wrestling departure on a recent edition of the Keepin' It 100 OFFICIAL podcast, Konnan discussed what he perceived to be the company's failure at properly getting the star over with fans.

"Number one, the girl never really got over. They pushed her hard at the beginning, okay, and, bro, that's what happens there, and I say it all the time; some people say, 'Oh, I'm getting paid!' Yeah, but your stock is also going down," he said. [2:23-2:36]

Abadon has already hit the independent circuit, and defeated former All Elite name Sonny Kiss on GCW Effy's Big Gay Brunch last April.
