AEW is home to several top tag teams. The roster features established duos like The Young Bucks and FTR, as well as up-and-coming teams such as Top Flight and The Gunns. A veteran talent is now opening up on the status of his tag team amid a lengthy absence by his partner.

Aussie Open began teaming in 2017 but made their AEW and ROH arrivals in June 2022. Kyle Fletcher and Mark Davis are the inaugural and record-setting two-time NJPW Strong Openweight Tag Team Champions, and they've held New Japan's IWGP Tag Team Championship once. Fletcher has pursued a successful singles run in AEW while Davis has been out with a wrist injury. They have not wrestled together since WrestleDream in October 2023, when they were defeated by then-AEW World Tag Team Champions FTR:

"He’s doing good. I don’t want to get too much into what’s going on with him, I think that’s his story. I think he will tell that story when he feels fit. I don’t think that’s my job or place, but he’s doing good," Kyle Fletcher said. [From 3:05 to 3:17]

Fletcher continued but would not give a definitive answer on Aussie Open's future. The 25-year-old pointed to his recent singles career and predicted the landscape may be different when Davis is able to return:

The latest on WWE Hall of Famer after his stroke HERE.

"As far as it comes to Aussie Open in the future... it’s very hard to say, right? Because he’s been gone for close to a year now... it was WrestleDream last year was the last time that we saw him, and a lot has happened since then. I’ve been in the ring with Kenny Omega, Bryan Danielson, Will Ospreay, all these people, and I’ve grown and changed so much. So, I think when it comes to him returning, when he does return... the landscape might be different, you know what I mean? So, I think time will only tell when it comes to that," Kyle Fletcher said. Fletcher had a 196-day reign as ROH World Television Champion since Davis has been gone. He lost to Ricochet on the August 28 Dynamite, then defeated Tomohiro Ishii on Collision that weekend. Fletcher failed to dethrone Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada on Dynamite earlier this month.

Kyle Fletcher and Will Ospreay going for AEW gold

Kyle Fletcher and Will Ospreay are currently chasing the AEW World Tag Team Championship. Fletcher and the AEW International Champion were previously in the United Empire faction together.

The Commonwealth Kingpin and The Aussie Arrow won a Casino Gauntlet match on Dynamite last week to earn a title shot against The Young Bucks. That match will take place on September 25 during the Dynamite: Grand Slam special.

Fletcher and Ospreay will be in trios action on this week's Dynamite. They will team with Konosuke Takeshita to face Okada and The Young Bucks.
