Will Ospreay recently announced a major match outside of AEW. The bout will mark the debut of a top All Elite Wrestling star in a London-based promotion.
AEW star Kris Statlander is set to make her in-ring debut for Pro-Wrestling: EVE at the promotion's "Mean Grrrls" event in Walthamstow, London, on July 4, 2025. The 29-year-old will challenge Anita Vaughan for the EVE International Championship.
Will Ospreay has been contributing behind the scenes at Pro-Wrestling: EVE in multiple roles. Last year, he assumed the role of a producer and is also part of the promotion's creative team. The Aerial Assassin shared the blockbuster news related to Statlander on X, stating:
"HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT!!! Kris Statlander Debuts at @ProWrestlingEVE Friday, 4th July | Walthamstow, London #E17 | Anita Vaughan vs. Kris Statlander—EVE INTERNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!''
Kris Statlander is a former AEW TBS Champion. Meanwhile, Anita Vaughan, the current EVE International Champion, has been a consistent presence in the British independent women's pro wrestling promotion. It will be interesting to see if the 29-year-old dethrones Vaughan next month.
AEW star Kris Statlander was recently given a new name
Ahead of Double or Nothing 2025, Kris Statlander received a new name from then-All Elite Wrestling star Mariah May.
May, who has since signed with WWE, shared a backstage mirror selfie with Statlander on X, captioning it with the term "stat daddy." The nickname quickly gained attention among fans.
Statlander has been a major figure in the women's division since her debut in Tony Khan's promotion in 2019. She captured the TBS Championship at Double or Nothing 2023 by ending Jade Cargill's 60-match undefeated streak. During her reign, Statlander defended the title against stars such as Nyla Rose, Anna Jay, and Taya Valkyrie.
She eventually lost the championship at Full Gear later that year in a three-way match involving Julia Hart and Skye Blue. Moreover, Statlander's match against Mercedes Mone at Full Gear 2024 set the record for the longest women's match in AEW history. The female stars eclipsed the record in their next encounter, battling for over 24 minutes at Worlds End 2024.
