Ronda Rousey to make her AEW debut against 35-year-old former WWE star? The seeds have been planted

Could this altercation end up opening the door to Ronda Rousey
Ronda Rousey is a former RAW and SmackDown Women's Champion.

Ronda Rousey had an altercation with a major AEW name after their match at Wrestling Revolver recently.

While it's clear that there's unfinished business between Rousey and Athena after this, does it open the door to an AEW debut?

Rousey has recently reunited with Marina Shafir, and the duo have slowly been reestablishing themselves as a tag team. However, in Ronda's Wrestling Revolver debut, she and Shafir won by DQ after Athena attacked her with her ROH Women's World Championship belt.

Tony Khan is set to introduce a brand new signee during Full Gear this weekend. With the bad blood established between Ronda Rousey and Athena, this might not be the best way to introduce her to AEW. However, The Fallen Goddess has established a little clique for herself in recent months, and a feud with Rousey will be the best way to get them established.

Athena interestingly reacted to a clip of her attack on Ronda on social media. While this isn't undeniable evidence that Rousey will be AEW-bound, this does indicate that the seeds of a storyline have been planted.

Dave Meltzer once weighed up the possibility of Ronda Rousey going to AEW

While fans have their own opinions on whether or not Ronda will end up in AEW, could her debut end up becoming a reality after all? During an episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer debated whether or not Ronda Rousey would be "cost-effective" for AEW.

"I don’t know if she’s cost-effective for AEW. Everyone’s cost-effective with WWE, but with AEW, it’s like, the blooms off the rose. The novelty effect of Ronda Rousey as a wrestler and she’s not the celebrity that she was when she was a fighter."

Despite this, he noted that Ronda Rousey could still end up in AEW regardless.

“But it wouldn’t be a move that I would make now. Rhonda didn’t knock them dead on her last WWE run, but maybe a new fan base in a new place. But it’s also a different crowd that’s more into the wrestling.” [H/T: InsideTheRopes]

Only time will tell whether or not Ronda will become All Elite. However, if she doesn't debut during AEW Full Gear, it's almost definite that she'll resolve her issues with Athena, inside or outside of the Jacksonville-based promotion.
