The sensational Failure Frame is one of the best isekai anime produced in 2024. Like most of the Isekai anime, the protagonist gets transported into an apocalyptic world by a goddess to act as a hero.

Like Arifureta and Tsukimichi, Failure Frame’s protagonist does not get a strong ability initially and is banished by goddess Vysis. The anime is a tale of the protagonist’s ascendance to the top and his revenge on the Goddess.

The anime was released in July this year and only 5 episodes are out. Waiting a whole week to watch the new episode of a new favorite anime is quite boring. So here’s a list of the 10 best isekai anime, like Failure Frame: I Became the Strongest and Annihilated Everything with Low-Level Spells for fans to watch while waiting for the new episode.

From Arifureta to The Eminence in Shadow, here's a list of 10 best Isekai anime series like Failure Frame

1) Arifureta

Arifureta: From Commonplace to World’s Strongest starts with Hajime Nagumo and his classmates being transported to a fantasy world to become heroes. However, Hajime’s already nightmarish life becomes worse when his classmates receive powerful abilities and he only gets alchemy.

Nagumo became a laughing stock and was later betrayed by a classmate during the Great Orcus Labyrinth raid. However, this betrayal marked the beginning of his change; he survived the labyrinth and became the strongest while thriving for revenge.

As we see, Arifureta is structurally similar to Failure Frame, however, there are other twists in the plot that make each of them unique productions.

2) Rising of the Shield Hero

Despite different opinions, the 2019 Rising of the Shield Hero is considered by many as one of the best isekai anime of this decade. The protagonist Naofumi was a university student, who was transported into "another world" with three other people to become one of The Cardinal Heroes after he found the Book of Four Heroes.

However, unlike the other Cardinal heroes, he didn't get an attacking weapon, but a shield. This marked the beginning of his misfortune, first, he was alienated, then betrayed by his ally Princess Myne (Myne falsely accused him of assaulting her).

The anime follows Naofumi’s path of revenge against Myne and the King and becomes the strongest while trying to unravel the mystery of the universe.

3) Tsukimichi: The Moonlight Fantasy

Tsukimichi follows the life of Makoto Misumi, who was contracted to go to the world of Elison and serve as a hero there. However, much like Mimori Touka, the vain Goddess threw him at the end of the world deeming him “ugly”.

Misumi was saved by Tsukuyami. To counter the wrath of the goddess, he trained to become powerful.

The concept is a lot like Failure Frame, a vain goddess, betrayal, and a struggling protagonist. This can be a great respite while waiting for the new episode of Failure Frame.

Seiichi’s life changed after consuming the fruit of Evolution. He gained unrivaled magical power and his appearance also changed. Be became powerful and allied with commoners to fight against the corrupt nobles.

The twisting events in the story and the morally grey protagonist make The Eminence in Shadow exciting. The animation is great and the anime has intriguing action scenes, undoubtedly it is one of the best isekai anime of this decade.

6) Drifters

Drifters is a highly acclaimed isekai anime with an alternate historical narrative. It follows the lives of soldiers in the Battle of Sekigahara. It is an interesting narrative that starts with a question- what happens to the legendary soldiers after they die?

It starts with Shimazu Toyohisa being mortally injured and being sent to a parallel world by Murasaki and meeting other drifters. The parallel world is like the world of The Hobbit, it has humans along with Elves, dwarves, and hobbits. The drifters save the Elvian clan from Arow and his army and join the combined army of humans and other races to fight the “ENDS”.

Even though the narrative is quite different from the Failure Frame, it still has an evil deity and fights against an all-powerful foe. The existential and political struggle in the narrative makes Drifters one of the best isekai anime of all time.

7) The Saga of Tanya the Evil

What happens when a staunch atheist salaryman is teleported into a parallel world at the time of WWI? The 2017 anime The Saga of Tanya the Evil follows such a narrative. After his death, he refuses to believe in God, and as a result, God makes him reincarnate in a wardriven village in Germany as a young girl Tanya.

Albeit being a young girl, Tanya honed his bloodthirsty ego to get a good position in the Empire’s army so that she could stay away from the battlefield. However, to achieve that she has to become a knight at first and join the front line.

This is an interesting tale, with the rivalry of Tanya and God, and Tanya’s determination to overcome fate. Along with fantasy, the added political struggle makes The Saga of Tanya the Evil one of the best isekai anime.

The Twelve Kingdoms is one of the best isekai anime that focuses on Meiji era Japan and China. Although the setting of the Anime is quite different from Failure Frame, it focuses on a story of revenge.

Yoko Nakajima and her two classmates are transported into a different world after encountering a strange man and are hunted for being feared as “Kaikyaku” (people who come from Earth). The group tries to find the mystery of the new world, but the group is disputed because Yuka betrayed Yoko.

9) Loner Life in Another World

Even if the 1st season of Failure Frame ends, fans should not be disappointed because a new anime with a similar plot will be released in October 2024. Loner Life in Another World follows the life of lonely Haruka, who along with his classmates is transported into a new fantasy world.

There, the Goddess gives each of them a new cheat skill to survive in the new world, however, Haruka misses this ritual. Therefore, the goddess gives him all the remaining cheat skills. Although neither of Haruka’s cheat skills is powerful, he manages to survive there and becomes very powerful.

Loner Life in Another World has the potential to become one of the best Isekai anime of this year. Therefore, fans can look forward to this anime.

10) Mushoku Tensei

Although Mushoku Tensei is structurally different from Failure Frame, it is clearly one of the best isekai anime of this decade. This anime follows the life of a NEET, who is born as a child in a fantasy world.

This new persona of Rudy Greyrat is a prodigious young child with incredible mana. Although the protagonist seems all-powerful initially, the anime follows his journey to overcome his insecurities from his past life and become stronger to protect others.

It’s an interesting Isekai anime, where the protagonist is held down by his procrastination and is faced with hardships and betrayal. It can be quite a different approach from Failure Frame, that fans can look upon.

To Conclude

Every anime has its unique background and plotline. But, they incorporate themes and structures from previous work. Writers get inspired by each other, thus we find some similarities among different works sometimes.

Failure Frame is one of the best isekai anime of this year. It has its unique plot, with a morally grey protagonist. While it’s impossible to find an exactly similar anime, I hope the fans will see some similarities in the anime from this list and enjoy them. Anime like Arifureta, Rising of the Shield Hero, The Saga of Tanya The Evil, etc. captures the spirit of Failure Frame and offers new perspectives.
