Blue Lock Season 2 Episode 8, titled Blue Genes, premiered on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 11:30 pm JST. While 8bit Studio didn't change its production quality, the latest episode was much better than the previous episodes as it combined 2D and CG animation well, all while giving Rin and Sae's sibling fight the spotlight.

The anime's previous episode pretty much followed the similar production quality the anime has displayed since the start of the season. However, there was one particular scene that was well-animated, giving fans hope for good production quality in the anime's later episodes.

As seen in Blue Lock Season 2 Episode 8, the anime looked pretty good compared to the previous episodes. While the anime was still lacking in production quality compared to the previous season, there was a good blend of 2D and CG animation to avoid any huge noticeable flaws.

This is because all "big scenes" were produced reasonably well, including the scene that saw Ikki Niko read the game and make an amazing clearance to stop Jaopan U-20's attack. Even the line art was much better than the previous episodes. The only thing that looked evidently bad was the lack of movement in background characters.

For instance, when Sae Itoshi crossed the ball to Sendo Shuto in the first half's final seconds, the only thing that was shown moving in the frame was the ball. Meanwhile, the players, who should have been shown running towards the goal remained still.

Besides such minor hiccups, the anime episode looked good compared to the standards it had set with the previous seven episodes. The episode also featured some scenes with some colors splashed on them like the second episode, but with the production quality the anime has showcased even that seems tolerable now.

While there were several instances where the anime did well in the latest episode, something that received the spotlight was Rin and Sae's sibling fight. The anime showed glimpses of their match-up through high quality line art. This was followed by a well-crafted CG animated scene of Sae Itoshi performing the cross-elastico nutmeg.

The anime later poured in extra love for two scenes that saw Rin and Sae take shots towards the opposition goal. Rin Itoshi's trivela goal received some anime original build up sequences. As for Sae's shot, the visual effects looked amazing.

While fans had been left virtually hopeless about good production quality in the anime, the anime's latest episode was a huge sigh of relief for fans. This is because, the episode showed signs that 8bit would at least produce the most important scenes from the anime decently well. This is not ideal for fans but they have been left with no choice but to deal with the cards they have been dealt.
