Jujutsu Kaisen finally gives Yuji his first win against Sukuna

Throughout the entirety of the Jujutsu Kaisen series, Yuji Itadori is the one character who has got the short end of the stick over and over again, despite being the main character of the series. As such, fans had often expressed their displeasure at Yuji's poor treatment, as they argued that Gege Akutami never gave the character a single win against any of his opponents.

That said, chapter 257 of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga finally turned things around for Yuji, as he not only went toe-to-toe with Ryomen Sukuna, but also somehow managed to overpower the King of Curses with one Black Flash attack after another, thereby officially surpassing a previous record set by Gojo and Nanami.

Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 257: Yuji overpowers Sukuna with eight consecutive Black Flashes

Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 257 proved to be one of the most exhilarating chapters of the manga till date, as it not only featured the surprising revelation of Yuji Itadori being related to Ryomen Sukuna, but it also saw the former going blow for blow with the King of Curses.

Yuji followed up his first Black Flash attack in the previous chapter with seven more Black Flashes in chapter 257, thereby officially surpassing Nanami's record. At one point, even Sukuna was surprised at Yuji's ability of casually hitting one Black Flash after another like it was nothing.

Furthermore, Yuji was also revealed to have unlocked Sukuna's "Shrine" Cursed Technique, which he managed to achieve after entering into an awakened state through his Black Flash attacks. Since Shrine was still a freshly learned technique for Yuji, it noticeably had a lower output than Sukuna's slashing attacks.

However, the King of Curses was stunned upon seeing that his combination of strikes and slashes had zero effect on Yuji, as the latter was somehow managing to match Sukuna's power and hit him with a barrage of Black Flashes.

Following the revelation that Yuji was the son of Sukuna's reincarnated twin, Jin Itadori, the speculation that the former had a latent potential equal to the King of Curses was now turning into a reality. In fact, at one point in the chapter, Sukuna was infuriated and wondered if Yuji was aiming to climb up to his level.

No matter what Sukuna threw his way, Yuji remained completely unfazed and continued fighting back against his opponent. After being hit with a seventh consecutive Black Flash point blank to his face, Sukuna lost his composure and was visibly frustrated for the first time since his battle against Satoru Gojo.

Sukuna is someone who never fails to acknowledge and compliment his opponents' strength. That said, no matter how much Yuji had progressed throughout the story, Sukuna refused to acknowledge his potential and referred to him as a mere 'brat'.

Even throughout the earlier stages of their fight in the Jujutsu Kaisen manga, Sukuna verbally bashed Yuji by saying that there was nothing special about him and that he had no interest in him. As such, it was certainly satisfying to see the King of Curses getting overwhelmed by Yuji in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 257.

Although Sukuna had previously considered Yuji as someone who was nowhere near his level, the current state of the battle has completely turned the tables on the King of Curses. In the upcoming chapter, if Yuji manages to hit Sukuna with a few more Black Flashes, he might just be able to surpass the King of Curses in his current state and bring a definitive end to his reign of terror.
