Mirio, not Deku, is the My Hero Academia character who deserves Eri's power

Mirio Togata is the My Hero Academia character who deserves Eri's power when considering their relationship and how their journeys would have made the conclusion much more satisfying. Moreover, when analyzing things from a battle perspective, the combination of Eri's Rewind with Mirio's ability to bypass solid structures is something that could be very powerful.

From a storytelling perspective, these two characters have been strongly connected since they were introduced during the Overhaul arc in the My Hero Academia manga. If author Kohei Horikoshi had managed to come up with a way for Mirio to get Eri's Quirk, it would have not only been an interesting direction to take but also a satisfying end to what they went through together in the series.

Explaining why Mirio would have been the best My Hero Academia character to have Eri's Quirk

Eri's Rewind Quirk allows her to return things and people to a previous state. In the series, her abilities have been shown to go as far as healing Deku's severed arms and giving Mirio Togata his Quirk back. This is a very dangerous power since its potential ramifications are too wide, and therefore, Mirio would be a great choice because of his moral compass and strong principles.

Moreover, since Mirio can pass through solid objects because of his Quirk, the combination of that power with the chance of rewinding is quite powerful. There is also the human factor of him being able to get the most out of his Quirk through sheer training, another element that gives him an edge over other candidates, such as Izuku "Deku" Midoriya.

From a narrative perspective, if author Kohei Horikoshi had decided to create a way for Eri to give her Quirk to Mirio, it would have been a great ending for their journey together. Mirio gave his all to protect Eri and even fought Overhaul after losing his Quirk, so him getting the powers of the girl he saved would have been a powerful conclusion for their arc.

The importance of Eri's character

Eri is often undermined by a section of the My Hero Academia fandom even though her powers were vital in moving the story forward at times, defining her as a plot device. While this logic makes sense, describing her as simply a plot device would be unfair since her role is significant to Deku, Mirio, and Shota Aizawa.

Her story not only showed the harsh reality of Quirk society but also the hopeful and positive side of the story. She was an innocent girl who endured many tragedies and was given a chance to have a normal life thanks to Deku and his friends.

Just because she had a Quirk with a lot of potential, Overhaul and his men had no problem experimenting with her and causing her trauma to get what they wanted, which is a major theme in the series. So, Eri embodies the hope of overcoming trauma.

Final thoughts

Mirio Togata would have been the best My Hero Academia character to have Eri's Quirk since he would get the most out of her powers due to his experience. He also has the moral compass to not go overboard with her powers, so if connected with Eri, the series' subplot could have had a good ending.
