Date A Live season 5 announces 2024 release window with new trailer and character visual

Just a couple of hours ago, a new trailer for Date A Live season 5 was released on Kadokawa's YouTube channel, @KADOKAWAanime. The new season was officially confirmed to be in production during the franchise's 10th anniversary event. This upcoming season, anticipated to be the second-to-last installment, is going to be released in 2024. While the exact date of release is yet to be revealed at this point, it will be revealed in the coming days.

The announcement has already excited fans, who now have something to look forward to in 2024. Moreover, the new promotional video has also unveiled a new character and cast member.

While exact details are currently unavailable, Crunchyroll is expected to stream the season on their platform. It is quite likely that Funimation will also make the anime available on their platform, as they have done with most previous seasons.

Date A Live season 5, an anime produced by the studio Geek Toys, is being directed by Jun Nakagawa, and Fumihiko Shimo is working as the series script supervisor. Character designs for the series have been done by Naoto Nakamura, and the music has been composed by Go Sakabe.

Aya Endo will play the new character Mio Takamiya in Date A Live season 5. Mio Takamiya is a mysterious woman with connections to both Shido and Mana's pasts. She is also known as the Spirit of Origin due to her role as the source for the appearance of other Spirits.

The main voice actors will include Marina Inoue as Tohka Yatogami, Nobunaga Shimazaki as Shido Itsuka, Misuzu Togashi as Origami Tobiichi, Ayana Taketatsu as Kotori Itsuka, Iori Nomizu as Yoshino, Asami Sanada as Kurumi Tokisaki, Maaya Uchida as Kaguya Yamai, Sarah Emi Bridcutt as Yuzuru Yamai, Minori Chihara as Miku Izayoi, Ayumi Mano as Natsumi, Hitomi Nabatame as Nia Honjo, and Akari Kageyama as Mukuro Hoshimiya.


What is the series about?

The Date A Live series is based on the Japanese light novel series written by Koshi Tachibana and illustrated by Tsunako. The first season of the anime, produced by AIC Plus+, was released in 2013.

The series follows Shido Itsuka, a high school boy who was introduced to a girl in armor after a Spacequake destroyed his town. In order to save the world, his sister-in-law, Kotori, forced him to go on a date with this girl and make her fall in love with him.
