Since its inception, VIZ Media has made every effort to keep fans worldwide informed about some of Japan's hottest weekly manga releases. As a result, fans will be thrilled to learn that VIZ Media announced a new digital subscription service on May 9, 2023.

The announcement was made by Ken Sasaki, CEO of VIZ Media, who mentioned the launch of a new digital subscription app. This new app will include English translations of popular Japanese manga from Shogakukan and Shueisha.

The launch of the VIZ Media app will be the first time that English translations will be available on a digital platform alongside the publishers' Japanese editions, greatly increasing the accessibility of manga for English readers. Ken also mentioned many highly acclaimed mangas that will be featured at the start of the project.

Inuyasha, Alice in Borderland, and other mangas will be featured in VIZ Media's newly launched VIZ Manga

On May 9, 2023, VIZ Media released a video announcing the launch of VIZ Manga. After the success of Shonen Jump, introduced four years ago in 2019, Ken stated in the video that it is time to expand and that VIZ Media will launch VIZ Manga. The new app's library will contain works in the shojo, fantasy, action, horror, slice-of-life, LGBTQ stories, and other genres.

A unique digital service app, VIZ Manga, will give users access to more than 10,000 chapters from Shogakukan and Shueisha publications in the VIZ Manga Library. VIZ Manga will be distinct from the current Shonen Jump app. It will be the first platform outside of Japan where Shogakukan manga can be read legally through simultaneously published releases.

Ken went on to say that when the new app launches, the library will have 15 titles simultaneously published and available to English readers. All of these titles will be reliable sources of information, and the most recent chapters will be made available for free reading. Additionally, VIZ Manga will be available to interested users for a monthly subscription price of $1.99 on Android and iOS devices.

It was also revealed that several mangas, including Rumiko Takahashi's Ranma 1/2 and InuYasha, Haro Aso's Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead and Alice in Borderland, Takashi Shiina's Yashahima: Princess Half-Demon, Junji Ito's Uzumaki and other works, Nana by Ai Yazawa and Tomohito Oda's Komi Can' Communicate, will be included in VIZ Manga.

In addition, series from illustrious creators like Yuu Watase, Inio Asano, Taiyo Matsumoto, and Gosho Aoyama will also be featured. As a result, the combined content of VIZ Media's Shonen Jump subscription and the new VIZ Media's VIZ Manga subscription includes more than 25,000 chapters of the manga, with further expansion in the works.
