The latest chapters of author and illustrator Eiichiro Oda’s best-selling One Piece manga series have been some of the most revelatory in the story yet. With chapter 1120 scheduled for official release in Japan on Monday, July 15, 2024, fans are also hoping that the trend continues.
At the time of writing, there are no verifiable spoilers for the upcoming One Piece installment. Given Japan's anti-manga piracy efforts thus far in the 2024 calendar year, fans are unlikely to receive spoilers.
Thankfully, the upcoming One Piece chapter should be fairly predictable, even without the help of spoilers. Essentially, the only totally unknown aspect is which one of two routes the issue will primarily take for its focus. While it more likely seems to be an update on Nami’s group, it’s possible that focus remains with Luffy, the Giant Warrior Pirates, and Emeth, the Ancient Robot (also known as the Iron Giant).
One Piece’s upcoming release all but guaranteed to take one of two major routes
The upcoming One Piece issue might focus on Nami’s group as they finished speaking with Sanji in chapter 1119. From here, chapter 1120 should see Nami begin the ship’s launch process, especially after Roronoa Zoro and Jinbe told her and the others to take off without them and meet up with them later.
Likewise, Nami should be shown hesitating due to this choice, prompting a shift in focus to Zoro and Jinbe, who’ll likely be in the midst of fighting off Gorosei member Saint Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro. While it is possible that Zoro will be taking on Nusjuro by himself, Jinbe will likely be assisting, considering that their goal here is to buy time to escape rather than earn a victory.
However, it should be shown that Nusjuro can handle both with ease as he and Zoro discuss their respective swords and origins as swordsmen. In turn, this should confirm that Nusjuro is in possession of the Shodai Kitetsu, adding another layer to this skirmish’s themes. In this route, the series' upcoming issue will likely end with Zoro landing a devastating blow on Nusjuro, setting up a cliffhanger for the subsequent release.
If chapter 1120 instead focuses on Luffy’s group, however, then the issue will almost certainly open with confirmation on whether or not Gorosei member Saint Topman Warcury was injured by Emeth. It’ll most likely be confirmed that Emeth did injure Warcury, prompting Luffy to try and “convince” the robot to teach him how to injure the Gorosei as well.
This should prompt Emeth to recognize Luffy as Joy Boy like Zunesha once did, possibly even prompting Luffy to compare the two. If this happens, fans can expect some words from Emeth on Zunesha and his roles as Joy Boy’s allies, as well as any history the two may have personally had. More likely than not, Zunesha’s crime will be revealed as relating to Emeth’s past or existence in some way.
Fans should also get a focus on the Gorosei here, who’ll likely confirm that Emeth did injure Warcury and say that the situation is now truly getting out of hand. The issue might end with all of them being contacted by Imu, who is warning them to evacuate since he’ll use the Mother Flame-powered Ancient Weapon Uranus to destroy Egghead Island given their failures.
