One Piece chapter 1117 is set to be released on June 17, 2024, but the spoilers for the chapter have already been unveiled. Fans were finally awarded with one of the most anticipated fights in the series but the chapter could have also confirmed a fan-favorite theory regarding a certain Gorosei's sword.

The chapter contained Vegapunk's broadcast, which ended as the chapter concluded because the Gorosei were finally able to impale the source of the Transmission, the Iron Giant. The chapter also showcased a glimpse of the battle between Roronoa Zoro and Saint Nusjuro.

But their battle had a strange moment where Zoro's Sandei Kitetsu collided with Nusjuro's sword. The Straw Hat member recognized the Gorosei's blade and called it a "Kitetsu" blade. Out of the three Kitetsu blades, the whereabouts of the greatest one, the Shodai Kitetsu, are unknown. It was speculated by fans that it is wielded by Saint Nusjuro and chapter 1117 might have confirmed it.

According to the spoilers of One Piece chapter 1117, the chapter commenced with showing the situation of SWORD after they fled from Hachinose island after saving Koby. They were inside a hospital as they discussed Vegapunk's message and the next possible step they could take.

The focus then returned to Egghead Island where Nami's group was about to leave the island as they waited for Zoro and Jinbe to arrive. As they reached the Thousand Sunny, Saint Nusjuro interrupted but Zoro stopped him. Zoro told everyone to leave as he and Jinbe could catch up later.

The focus then shifted to the Iron Giant, surrounded by the Gorosei who were taken aback after witnessing the robot that attacked Mary Geoise 200 years ago. As Vegapunk was about to reveal a crucial detail about the D. clan, the Gorosei impaled the Iron Giant and the transmission stopped immediately.

During the clash between Zoro and Nusjuro, after their swords collided, Zoro noticed that the Gorosei's sword was a Kitetsu blade, similar to Zoro's Sandei Kitetsu. A Kitetsu blade is one of the Meito sword types famous for being "cursed."

Once wielded by a swordsman, these swords kill their wielder in the worst way possible. Three such swords exist in the series — the first is Sandai Kitetsu, a simple Meito blade crafted by Kozuki Sukiyaki. The sword traveled to the other part of the Grand Line and landed in the possession of Ipponmatsu, a sword dealer in Louguetown. It was then passed onto Roronoa Zoro and is still with the Straw Hat member.

The second is Nidai Kitetsu, a Great Meito blade crafted by Kotetsu, the ancestor of Kozuki Sukiyaki. The sword was the possession of its craftsman until it was passed to the descendant, Kozuki Sukiyaki.

Unfortunately, Luffy temporarily got his hands on the sword and playfully attacked enemies during the Wano arc. It was later returned to its original owner and is still with him. The third is Shodai Kitetsu, a Supreme Meito blade, one of the strongest blades in One Piece. However, neither its craftsman nor its wielder has been unveiled in the series.

But this sword is speculated to be in the possession of Gorosei Saint Van Nusjuro. The Gorosei's blade has a similar hilt and the rounded cross pattée tsuba as the other two Kitetsu blades.

Moreover, with the confirmation that Saint Nusjuro has a Kitetsu blade in chapter 1117, it is now confirmed that the fan theory is a reality and Saint Nujuro does possess the strongest Kitetsu sword in the series.
