Solo Leveling episode 2 Recap

The Smiling Statue (image via A-1 Pictures)
The Smiling Statue (image via A-1 Pictures)

In Solo Leveling Episode 2, titled “If I Had One More Chance,” Song Chi-yul lost an arm in the attack from the statues, while Jin-Woo realized that as long as they kept kneeling, the statues wouldn’t attack them. It had been seven days since the gate opened, and they were on the verge of a Dungeon break.

Jin-Woo soon also figured out that if they stood beneath the statues holding musical instruments, the statues would start playing, and the second round of attacks would stop. However, by trying to save Joo-Hee, Jin-Woo loses his leg before he reaches a musical statue. For the third commandment, an Alter appeared in the dungeon.

After the remaining six players reached inside the circle surrounding the alter, they realized that the rest could escape as long as one person remained. Other than Song and Joo-Hee, everyone else abandoned Jin-Woo. Upon his request, Song Chi-Yul also left the dungeon carrying an unconscious Joo-Hee.

The statues then attacked Jin-Woo and pinned him to the altar as the sacrifice. 0.02 seconds before his death, Jin-woo received a notification similar to inside a virtual reality game, informing him that he could become a player. Without knowing what it was, Jin-Woo accepted the offer to live.

What to expect from Solo Leveling episode 3? (Speculative)

Episode 2 adapted chapters 4 – 10 of the webtoon, which is shocking compared to the 3-chapter adaptation of episode 1. The second episode will likely continue this pacing and adapt chapters 8-14. That will allow the viewers to see Sung Jin-Woo’s recovery and how the System works.

The secrets of the Notification Jin-Woo received at the end of the second episode will be revealed alongside the concept of Hunter Awakening and Mana. Woo Jin-Chul will appear in this episode and will explain what happened in the Double Dungeon.
