150 school children participate in SSPF's state championship
New Delhi, Nov 29 (PTI) Around 150 students from 10 schools participated in the Delhi State Athletics Championship organised by School Sports Promotion Foundation (SSPF) on the first day.
These boys and girls took part in 17 events divided in two age groups -- U-12 and U-15.
The two-day championship will conclude tomorrow.
SSPF chairman Om Pathak said, "Schools are where our future champions are. We are sure that SSPF will make parents around the country realise how essential it is to balance education and sport. It is important that we create a social movement that believes sport and education are not mutually exclusive."
Pathak said the support of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and the Sports Authority of India encouraged SSPF to believe that it will be a game-changer.
In one year, SSPF has received the honour as National Sports Promotion Organization (NSPO) by Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports.
