The MLB All-Star Game is set to kick off on Tuesday night. However, recent injury updates will leave some of the game's best infielders on the sideline. Obviously, fans and the players themselves would love to see these stars participate in the Midsummer Classic, but prioritizing the regular season is key for everyone involved.
MLB Injury Updates for July 16
Carlos Correa

One of the most notable injury updates heading into the 2024 MLB All-Star Game is that of Minnesota Twins star Carlos Correa. The veteran infielder underwent an MRI on his right foot, revealing that he was dealing with plantar fasciitis.
As a result, Correa will be held out of the All-Star Game, opening the door for Texas Rangers star Corey Seager to take his place on the roster.
Luis Arraez
San Diego Padres star Luis Arraez gave his injury update regarding the health of his sore left thumb. The two-time batting champion said that he is not 100% healthy and will not participate in the All-Star Game in order to rest throughout the break. It's unfortunate that this year's event will not feature one of the league's top hitters.
"Luis Arraez, who is dealing with a jammed left thumb, says he won’t play in the All-Star Game this week. Tough decision, he said, but ultimately: “I need the rest,” AJ Cassavell tweeted.
Huascar Ynoa
The Atlanta Braves have announced that pitcher Huascar Ynoa will begin a rehab assignment with the team's Florida Complex League affiliate. Ynoa suffered a right elbow stress fracture in April and has yet to pitch since sustaining the injury.
He may have a long way to go. However, the fact that he is beginning a rehab assignment is a step in the right direction.
Abraham Toro
Abraham Toro had enjoyed a productive season for the Oakland Athletics before finding himself on the IL with a right hamstring strain more than one month ago. In a recent injury update given by the team, Toro has started a rehab assignment in the Arizona Complex League. He is expected to have a lengthy rehab stint before rejoining the lineup.
Mike Tauchman
Chicago Cubs outfielder Mike Tauchman has also started a rehab assignment in the Arizona Complex League. The veteran has missed nearly one month of action after suffering a Grade 2 left groin strain in June. The fact that Tauchman has already started his rehab games is a major injury update for the club as they look to bring themselves into a playoff spot.
