MLB Twitter reacts to Anthony Rendon being suspended for five games due to physical altercation with fan

MLB has suspended Los Angeles Angels slugger Anthony Rendon for his physical altercation with a fan in Oakland. There is no word yet on whether Rendon plans to appeal the suspension. The decision to suspend Rendon for five games is controversial for some who feel less punishment was warranted.

Following a game against the Oakland Athletics, Rendon took exception to some trash talk coming from a fan. He grabbed the fan by the shirt and took a swing at him that did not connect before releasing him. A video of the incident went viral on Twitter.

Talkin' Baseball on Twitter shared the MLB's decision to suspend Rendon.

Even if he chooses to appeal and is successful, he will almost definitely lose time due to this incident. This is infuriating for Los Angeles Angels fans who were hoping to see him on the field as much as possible. In the past, he was out due to injury, but now Anthony Rendon will miss early season games thanks to a suspension.

The Angels have been desperately trying to change their fortunes of the past few seasons but are already falling into traps. Losing one of their better offensive players for five games could make all the difference between a winning and losing season. Anthony Rendon has not lived up to expectations with the Los Angeles Angels, regardless of where you stand on this suspension.

The Angels are set for an important series against the Seattle Mariners that Rendon could now miss the entirety of. As they have been called on to do so often, Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani will have to step up and carry the offense.

The Angels will need to find a way to weather this early-season absence and still win games.

The Los Angeles Angels need Anthony Rendon on the field more, not less

Regardless of what led to the physical altercation, Rendon should not have allowed himself to be in that position. If you are one of the highest-paid players on the team, you have a responsibility to stay on the field as much as possible. Taking a suspension for something that could have been avoided is justifiably frustrating.

The Angels have a lot to prove in 2023, and their ability to win games was hindered by one of their own stars.
