Alex Anthopoulos, the Atlanta Braves General Manager and President of Baseball Operations, has agreed to a multi-year contract extension with the team that will retain him as General Manager and President of Baseball Operations until the 2031 MLB season.

The Braves hired Montreal-born Alex Anthopoulos, a former general manager of the Toronto Blue Jays, in November 2017. Anthopoulos led Atlanta to the 2021 World Series championship. Since Anthopoulos took over as general manager, Atlanta has advanced each year to the MLB playoffs, making them a powerhouse in the National League.

Alex Anthopoulos' journey before joining the Braves

Alex Anthopoulos served as the Los Angeles Dodgers vice president of baseball operations from 2016 to 2017 before joining the Braves. In addition, he served as general manager of the Toronto Blue Jays from 2003 to 2015, a period during which the team made its first postseason appearance since 1993.

The Atlanta Braves finished with a 104-58 record in 2023 before losing to the Philadelphia Phillies in the NLDS.
