Cardinals legend Albert Pujols lauds Mike Trout for his great start to new season

This season, Mike Trout pushed himself to attain his vintage form for the Los Angeles Angels and got into the top-tier list. This excited Albert Pujols, a former MLB All-Star, about his old teammate's comeback.

“No surprise at all,” Pujols told the MLB Network when asked if he was surprised to see Mike Trout on the leading track.
“I think Trout is probably when he's healthy is probably if not the best player. He's one of the best in the game. And he's fully healthy. And he knows that this has to be a big year for him."

Pujols hopes Trout has an MVP-worthy performance this season, but he's more thrilled about the Angels All-Star's comeback.

“I expect for him to put big numbers, probably win an MVP this year in American League, and that's a great start of the season,” he added. “I'm just glad to see him get back into the field. … And I'm just glad to see him back on the top where he belongs.”

The LA Angels and Mike Trout are having a hot season

The Los Angeles Angels lost Shohei Ohtani to their city rivals, the Los Angeles Dodgers. Losing the two-time MVP was a big blow for them. But that didn't stop them from chasing their ultimate goal, a shot at playoffs and winning a World Series.

Amid the Angels' slow offseason, many confronted Mike Trout about his intentions to leave the team, which he denied publicly, claiming to be a loyal player. So far, his loyalty is being paid off well as the Angels (9-9) are just one win away from tying with the Texas Rangers (10-9) for the division's top spot.

In a division with the Texas Rangers and the Houston Astros, the Angels' qualifying chance for the postseason seemed very slim from the beginning. However, the Astros are surprisingly having a rough time settling in. Meanwhile, the Angels are advancing steadily.

Their only series win was against the Miami Marlins. Except that they lost to other teams but somehow saved themselves from getting swept. And it's no wonder that Mike Trout is the one who's helping them with everything he has this season.

He recorded 11 RBIs and eight home runs (currently highest in the league) with a 1.053 OPS and a slash line of .282/.363/.690. On the other hand, Taylor Ward is helping with 21 RBIs and six home runs to maintain the Angels' hot streak.
