Ronald Acuna Jr. finally got things going in the home run column after blasting a moon shot in Wednesday's game against the Houston Astros. This was the first home run for the reigning NL MVP, which came after 65 plate appearances to start the season.
The solo shot came in the fifth inning against J.P. France. According to Statcast, the ball traveled 422 ft. and came off the bat at 109.5 mph.
After the game, Acuna Jr. was candid, saying that he knew it was only a matter of time before he got one to sail out.
"Yeah, like I said before, I've been feeling good the whole time and I knew it was just a matter of time until the hits started coming," Acuna Jr. said.
Rather than believing in hot stretches, Acuna Jr. is more centered on keeping grinding out.
"I mean, streaks, you know, they're going to come and go and you get hot or whatever, but I think the important thing is just to, you know, it's a scheme of highs and lows, but you just got to keep doing what you're doing and putting in the work," he added.

Atlanta Braves manager Brian Snitker praised Ronald Acuna Jr.'s home run in his post-game presser.
“Even last night, he was kind of mis-hitting some balls and getting hits,” Snitker said. “It’s like when guys start doing that, they’re ready to get going and get on a run. He’s getting hits and stealing bags. I’m sure it was good for him to get that first home run out of the way.”
Even last season, Acuna Jr. was off to a slow start, given he only hit four home runs last April. Still, he ended the season with more than 40 home runs. So expect this home run to be a tipping point for the home run column.
