After the New York Yankees thrashed the San Francisco Giants by a commanding 5-0 margin, fans are eager to see more of this highly anticipated lineup in action.

The second game of the season for both the New York Yankees and the Giants was scheduled to be on April 1. But fans on both sides are wondering if Mother Nature has a cruel April Fools Day joke in store.

The meteorological forecast looks as though the New York City area is not set to fall under any significant showers or thunderstorms until 9 pm ET on Saturday night. This means that most of the game, which is set to start at 4:10 pm ET should be playable.

"1 am Saturday Yankees game weather update: Here's a look at the simulated radar for about 3pm-9pm - Main threat for a shower or thunderstorm to impact the game seems to be towards the end of the game - Majority, if not all of the game, looks fine" - Yankees Rain Delay Forecast

Although a rain delay is unlikely, New York Yankees fans still have the 2022 opening day clash with the Boston Red Sox at the forefront of their minds. Gerrit Cole put up a spectacular performance while Josh Donaldson hit a walk-off single for his team, his first as a Yankee.

The New York Yankees' opening day game in 2023 against the San Francisco Giants featured a home run from second baseman Gleyber Torres. It also featured 2022 home run king Aaron Judge, who went deep in his very first at-bat of the season.

Starting on the mound for the New York Yankees will be Clarke Schmidt, while veteran Alex Cobb gets the nod for the San Francisco Giants. The team will play a rubbermatch of the series at Yankee Stadium before going their own ways for the remainder of the season.

Rain delays will be no stranger to the New York Yankees in 2023

Springtime in New York City can be as wet as it can be enchanting. One thing that residents can always expect in the spring is rain, and lots of it. While the Yankees may have been able to dodge the proverbial bullet this time, torrential weather awaits them in the near future.
