An intense seven-game NLCS showdown at Citizens Bank Park comes to a bitter end for the Philadelphia Phillies as second baseman Ketel Marte and the Arizona Diamondbacks against all odds have clinched a spot in the 2023 World Series after defeating the Red Army 4-2 in Game 7.

Much to the Dbacks' postseason contribution, including crucial walk-off hits against the Phillies, Marte has been on a roll and has made postseason history in the process. Ketel Marte has started his postseason career with a 16-game hitting streak, which is the longest streak ever in the league's postseason history.

Ketel Marte won the 2023 NLCS MVP award after batting .387 with 12 hits, 3 RBIs, and 2 runs scored in 7 games.

In the 2023 postseason, he has a .358 batting average with 19 hits, 2 homers, 7 RBIs, and 6 runs scored in 12 games.

Diamondbacks fans have one more achievement to celebrate and took to X to applaud Marte's postseason record.

"He's a beast. Will be a pleasure seeing him and Adolis face off against each other," said one fan.
"Real best 2nd baseman," another fan said.

Everything about NLCS Game 7: Phillies vs. Diamondbacks, feat. Ketel Marte, Corbin Carroll

The Phillies, who were considered favorites before the start of the series, have been taken down by the NL West Wild Card entrant in the championship series.

Philadelphia's offense seemed lackluster and could only record two runs off five hits in their entire nine innings. Diamondbacks on the other hand, scored four runs off 11 hits.

For the Phillies, big guns like Kyle Schwarber (1-3) and Bryce Harper (0-4) had an off night. Apart from Alec Bohm, who homered and scored two runs, none could inflict much damage. Their starting pitcher, Ranger Suarez pitched 4.2 innings for three earned runs along with six strikeouts.

For the Dbacks, outfielder Corbin Carroll recorded three hits and scored two runs along with an RBI. Ketel Marte went 1-5 with a hit. Their rookie starting pitcher, Brandon Pfaadt was also lights out as he struck out seven, giving up two runs in 4.0 innings pitched. Finally, closer Paul Sewald retired 1-2-3 in the ninth to lead Dbacks to their first World Series appearance since 2001.
