Merrill Kelly admits being often mistaken for actor Chris Elliott- "I've gotten it from the day I signed for Diamondbacks"

Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Merrill Kelly shut down the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 6. He went five innings, giving up one run on three hits and three walks while striking out eight batters.

It helped the Dbacks win 5-1 and force Tuesday's Game 7 matchup. A win on Tuesday would be huge for this organization, which has not been to a World Series since 2001.

Following the victory, Kelly joined MLB Network's "Intentional Talk" to discuss his success. Instead, the conversation carried over to how often he gets mistaken for longtime actor and comedian Chris Elliott.

"I've gotten it from the day I signed for Diamondbacks," Kelly said.

Elliott, who has appeared in "Everybody Loves Raymond," "How I Met You Mother," and "Schitt's Creek," to name a few, has seen great success. He has won four consecutive Emmy Awards for his writing.

Kelly cannot escape the comparisons, as the two resemble each other. From the fans on social media to the security guards around the stadium, they have often called him Chris Elliott.

However, he is not the only MLB player who seems to be a doppelganger. San Francisco Giants pitcher Logan Webb closely resembles "Friday Night Lights" and "Breaking Bad" actor Jesse Plemons.

Merrill Kelly and the Diamondbacks know not much was expected from them when they entered the postseason. They were long shots in the wild-card series, NLDS and NLCS, but that has not stopped them.

Now, they are one game away from proving many observers wrong and making the World Series for the first time since 2001. However, they will be up against the hungry Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park.

This will be Philadelphia's first Game 7 in its 141-year history. Will this be too much for the Phillies to handle? They must get through rookie Brandon Pfaadt, riding a high from his Game 3 start. He shut down the Phillies, going 5.2 innings, only giving up two hits on zero runs while striking out eight.

For Arizona, it will have to get by Ranger Suarez, who feels up to the task. He also started Game 3 and did well but could not get offensive help. He went 5.1 innings, giving up three hits on zero runs while striking out seven.

With everything on the line, seeing which team has the upper hand will be gripping.
