Michael Brantley has not played yet this year due to injuries. He's been injured in the past, only appearing in 64 games last season and none thus far in 2023. He's been a complete non-factor for the Houston Astros, who are trying to become the first team to repeat as World Series champions since the turn of the century.

The Astros may be forced to cut bait with Brantley. They may not want to wait around forever, and other teams may be willing to give him a shot and see what he has left. He was pretty solid in big league action last year, so he may still be worth something.

While they just cut Aaron Hicks to make room for Greg Allen, the New York Yankees may want to look into Brantley. The slugger hasn't played at all this year and may not be able to play the field well anymore, but he can certainly be an offensive improvement over Oswaldo Cabrera.

The Atlanta Braves rank dead last in left field fWAR, according to Fangraphs. One of baseball's best teams likely can't survive that for very long. Depending on when Brantley might return, the Braves may well want to swing a trade for the former world champion.

The Texas Rangers need left field

The Texas Rangers are a top team in the MLB, but they've gotten little to no production from the left field spot. Brantley may be a lost cause, but he won't cost all that much and could be the piece they need to finish the puzzle.
