After missing out on their first World Series since 2008, the Philadelphia Phillies have reloaded and look stronger than ever. The club has been active during the offseason. Along with signing some key pieces, they have retained the core of last year's pennant-winning team.

With one of the most potent offenses in the league, the organization has focused heavily on pitching this offseason.

Relievers Jose Alvarado and Seranthony Dominguez have both been extended through 2025 and 2026, respectively. All-Star Gregory Soto was brought in from the Detroit Tigers. Lefty Matt Strahm has signed a two-year contract. Add Craig Kimbrel, who ranks seventh all-time in MLB saves, and you have one of the league's most dangerous bullpens.

MLB fans took to Twitter to debate where this bullpen rates in the league. While some fans are excited about the group, others argue it's a subpar lineup.

Craig Kimbrel is entering his 14 seasons in the majors. The closer has definitely lost some of his velocity. He finished last season with a 7-6 record and a 3.75 ERA. Prior to that, he had an ERA of 6.53 and 5.28 in 2019 and 2020, respectively.

While this bullpen has power and velocity in abundance, many fans also questioned their ability to throw strikes. Soto and Alvarado had difficulty finding control at certain points in the 2022 season.

President of Baseball Operations Dave Dombrowski and manager Rob Thomson are building this bullpen with pure power. These pitchers are all capable of finessing the opposition, but Alvarado, Soto and Dominguez are predominantly known for their velocity.

Alvarado possesses one of the fastest sinkers in the game. It averages 99.6 mph. He combines that with an off-speed curveball that keeps hitters off balance. Soto and Dominguez are both capable of hitting the high nineties.

Led by Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber and J.T. Realmuto, the Phillies boast one of the most potent offenses in the league. The club finished in the top five in the National League in runs, home runs, hits, batting average and OPS.

The organization has invested heavily in pitching this offseason in the hopes of building a core capable of matching their offense. If their starting rotation can remain healthy, the Philadelphia Phillies could edge out the New York Mets and the Atlanta Braves for the division.
