Albert Pujols took the world by storm last season during his final year in the league before retiring. The veteran slugger flew past expectations, hitting .270/.345/.550 with 24 home runs.

Now he's looking to take the world by storm differently: on the basketball court. Pujols has been invited to play in the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game.

Apart from Pujols, Alex Bregman of the Houston Astros will be an assistant coach. The game is set to take place on February 17.

Pujols will be a part of a stacked team of stars. Some of his teammates include Dwyane Wade, Kane Brown, and 21 Savage. They'll have their hands full as DK Metcalf and former NFL wide receiver Calvin Johnson will play on the other team.

Here's how fans reacted on Twitter to the news of Pujols' participation:

"Finally some real athletes on an NBA court," one fan tweeted.
"What the," exclaimed another fan.

Fans are happy to get the opportunity to see Albert Pujols again. He's a fan-favorite amongst many in the league.

It won't be a surprise if Pujols has a good game. Baseball players are often the most versatile of all professional athletes.

Pujols has a laundry list of baseball accomplishments throughout his 22-year career. It would be much easier to present all the things he has not accomplished instead of those he has.

He was the National League Rookie of the Year in 2001. In the 161 games he played that year, he hit .329/.403/.610 with 37 home runs and 130 RBIs. He also won the Silver Slugger Award and was voted into his first All-Star game.

In 2004, he was the NLCS MVP. The team later lost to the Boston Red Sox in the World Series that year. He and the team redeemed themselves in 2006 and 2011 by winning the World Series.

Pujols was an 11-time All-Star, which is half of his career. He was a three-time NL MVP and a six-time Silver Slugger Award winner. His most recent accomplishment came last year as he won the NL Comeback Player of the Year.

Albert Pujols has had one of the most consistent careers of any baseball player that has played the game.
