New York Yankees star says their bullpen is top tier in the MLB: "Some of the most talented arms I've ever played with"

Lou Trivino believes in the New York Yankees bullpen

The New York Yankees didn't secure a single reliever in the MLB Network Top 10 list, but they still have one of the best and deepest bullpens in baseball. They had the third-best team bullpen ERA in 2022 and they only lost Chad Green (mostly injured) and Aroldis Chapman (mostly ineffective).

Lou Trivino, who came over with Frankie Montas in last year's trade deadline deal, believes this could be the best bullpen he's ever been a part of.

Trivino gushed over the Yankees' pen:

"There's a ton of talent, gotta be some of the most talented arms I've ever played with. The only thing that rivals that was in 2018 when there was [Blake] Treinen, myself, [Jeurys] Familia, the list goes on. There is a ton of talent here."

He continued:

"You got Holmes, who's up to 102 [mph] with like 23 inches of run or something stupid. It's a very, very talented bullpen and on top of that, a very talented starting rotation. I think we're going to be very dangerous for the MLB and we're going to make some waves."

The Yankees have loaded up their bullpen in recent years to take pressure off the starters, but as Trivino mentioned, they now also have arguably the best starting rotation in baseball, too.

Who is in the New York Yankees bullpen?

Despite losing Chad Green and Aroldis Chapman, the New York Yankees have an incredible bullpen. Their bullpen was arguably their strongest suit during last year's 99-win season.

Their current bullpen roster includes:

  • Scott Effross (recovering from injury)
  • Clay Holmes
  • Tommy Kahnle
  • Michael King (recovering from injury)
  • Jonathan Loaisiga
  • Ron Marinaccio (recovering from injury)
  • Wandy Peralta
  • Clarke Schmidt
  • Lou Trivino

They may not boast as many big names as some other teams, but they do have a lot of talent. Clay Holmes was an All-Star in 2022. Michael King led the bullpen in strikeout percentage and fWAR (1.7) in just 51 innings.

Wandy Peralta had a miniscule 0.32 HR/9. Trivino left 83.9% of runners on base. There's plenty of talent and now, there's less pressure on the relievers. This is bad news for the rest of the AL East.
