LA Dodgers leadoff hitter Mookie Betts is doing anything and everything he can this year.

However, perhaps his most impressive feat would be Betts' transition to shortstop, despite being a lifelong outfielder. The 31-year-old's defensive switch has wowed the MLB Network’s host, Brian Kenny, aka BK.

“At a certain age, shortstop is demanding and requires the range and speed of a young man. A player of the magnitude of Mookie Betts has never moved from an outfield spot to that difficult position at a post-prime age,” Kenny said on ‘MLB Tonight’.

BK called out the Dodgers management to build the team around Mookie to maximize his efforts.

“If you're looking to maximize your roster production, you put the best possible bat at the toughest defensive position that he can handle and you work around that, “ he added. “Mookie bets shouldn't be working around other players. Other players should be working around Mookie Betts.

During his time with the Boston Red Sox, Mookie Betts played between the outfield and second base, but never at the SS position. He won four Gold Gloves there and added another two with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

However, last year the Dodgers stationed Betts at shortstop for the first time in his career. Surprisingly, he fit there well, playing 16 games with a fielding average of .974 and committing four errors.

Before the season, Betts was announced as the team’s everyday second baseman. However, poor defense forced the front office to alter their plans in mid-season, making Betts their new SS for the time being.

Mookie Betts is leading the LA Dodgers for the pennant run

Mookie Betts has been in excellent form this season, playing like an MVP.

Betts has scored 22 runs and had 31 hits (both the highest in the league), with an impressive stat line of .369/.470/.667. In addition, he has reached base 56 times and maintained a 1.137 OPS.

This has helped the Dodgers become the top team in the NL West division, with a 12-9 record. In the second game against the Washington Nationals, Mookie played his heart out and went 5-5, scoring two RBIs for the team.

The Dodgers' last series win was against the Minnesota Twins. They recently lost a series against the Washington Nationals, 1-2.

They will be playing their next game against the New York Mets in a three-game series starting Friday at the Dodgers' stadium. The team is hoping to hold onto their position with a series win.
