The Boston Red Sox front office has been on the receiving end of severe backlash after shipping off superstar Rafael Devers to the San Francisco Giants. While this move provides flexibility for the team, the fans have been furious over the trade.

Some fans have posted executive Craig Breslow’s home address on social media. Several others within the Red Sox organization have also been harassed by fans.

The situation was tipped off to the police by someone from the franchise. While Newton Police revealed they are not investigating the online threats, they are keeping an eye on safety.

The fans' outrage was amplified as many thought the timing was off to send Rafael Devers to San Francisco. The Red Sox dropped the bomb right after they finished their sweep of the New York Yankees in a three-game series.

However, the front office believes that this will open doors for their young players like Kristian Campbell. Even with the upcoming trade deadline, the Red Sox could play their cards well to bring in new players.

Following the blockbuster trade of Rafael Devers to the San Francisco Giants, Boston Red Sox legend Pedro Martinez shared his thoughts on the situation. He believed that this whole issue had gotten out of hand, but it could have been dealt with through proper communication.

Martinez believes that the Red Sox’s poor communication was what brought the situation down to where it is now. He also called out Devers for taking it to the media rather than a face-to-face talk, and hates how much spotlight this is getting.

“It became an ugly scene for both sides. But now I’m glad Boston got pretty good talent and Devers is going to be happy in San Francisco…,” Pedro Martinez [2:39 - 3:30].

In a press conference for the Giants, Devers said that he’ll play wherever the team wants him to. His comments created another buzz, questioning his previous rejection to do so with the Red Sox. He will be facing his former team in the weekend series.
