The Atlanta Braves and the Detroit Tigers met on Monday to kick off a three-game series. The two teams battled in the first two games, but Atlanta had the upper hand, winning both 2-1.

While already having won the series, Atlanta was looking for a three-game sweep on Wednesday. With Reynaldo Lopez on the mound, they blanked Detroit, winning 7-0, completing the sweep.

Lopez was strong in his outing, going five innings, and giving up zero runs on seven hits while striking out six batters. Offensively, Atlanta outhit Detroit 12-8 for its 41st win of the season.

While it has been a rocky start with key injuries, Atlanta fans are happy to see their team getting hot. They have won six of their last seven games and have the Philadelphia Phillies in their sight.

While the Tigers are not a slouch, they are not one of the best teams in the league. However, the Braves face the best team across the board, as they take on the New York Yankees starting on Friday.

This upcoming series will surely test Atlanta. The Yanks are great all around. They have a dominant pitching staff, and there's not much of a break for opposing pitchers throughout their batting order.

Everybody must contribute If Atlanta wants to take the series from baseball's best on the road.
