Drama has already caught up in the rivalry series between the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox on Friday night at Yankee Stadium. In the second inning, Red Sox's ace Walker Buehler was under the gun with bases loaded and already down 6-0 in the game.

Intentionally or not, Buehler threw an inside pitch, bruising the elbow of Yankees slugger Anthony Volpe, resulting in a run driven in and leaving the right-handed batter hurt.

As soon as Volpe went to the batting deck, grimacing in pain after the pitch to the elbow, the Yankees fans started chanting "Boston s*cks." MLB analyst Gary Phillips noted the situation at Yankee Stadium while dropping information on Volpe's injury.

"Anthony Volpe is in some pain after a pitch to his left elbow. It inspired a lackluster 'Boston Sucks' chant. The #Yankees' SS is staying in for now," Phillips wrote.

Walker Buehler isn't a fan among Yankees faithful for more than one reason

Walker Buehler didn't have a great night on Friday as he exited the mound after pitching just two innings, in which he allowed seven runs, of which five were earned.

When he threw an inside pitch to Volpe, it hurt the sentiments of the Yankees fans toward him. Buehler drawing the ire from them is not limited to because he plays for the Red Sox.

Last season, Buehler represented the Dodgers in Game 5 of the World Series. He shut down the Yankees' hitters at the very same place to clinch the confetti for the Dodgers.

Before his Friday night start, Buehler acknowledged the historic rivalry between the Yankees and the Red Sox, but he also knew that he would have a loud night.

“If you look at the rivalry here [in Boston] and what happened last year [in the World Series] and all that stuff, I don’t think we as a team or me specifically will get the warmest reception,” Buehler said.

“These kinds of rivalry games are why we all play. It’s some of the most fun games we’ll play all year. This will be my first regular-season start there in my career, so I’m pretty excited about it. Hopefully it goes well.”

Buehler has seen better days with the Red Sox than in his last two starts. Before this start, he allowed 10 hits and five earned runs in 5.2 innings against the Atlanta Braves. His season ERA is currently 5.18 after 46.2 innings and nine starts.
