It was an emotional day for Kyle Teele to not only make his MLB debut but also celebrate their 7-2 win vs. the Kansas City Royals. The 23-year-old got the call from the Chicago White Sox before their game at Rate Field and labeled it as “a dream come true.”

Teele debuted as their starting catcher in the lineup and batted sixth on his MLB debut. Teel celebrated the news with his family via a phone call, first to his mother , Janine, before FaceTiming his dad, Garett.

He made sure to ask whether his mom had any plans fixed, as they had to catch a flight to Chicago. Kyle Teel’s dad knew from the look on his son's face that he was selected by the White Sox.

During his debut, Teel's parents, along with his brother Aiden, were present to witness the emotional moment. Teel said that it was a result of his consistency and relentlessness that got him up on the MLV stage.

“It’s cool. This is something I dreamed about since I was a little kid. Everything I worked for comes up to this point,” Kyle Teel said. “So, this is awesome. I would just say that working hard and being consistent with my process every single day is what I did, and I don’t expect that to stop.

“Just keep my head down and keep working hard. That’s a big part of my game, just being a hard-nosed ballplayer.”

On his debut, he helped the White Sox boost its score with two walks, one single, and a wild pitch score. He also reached base three times and caught up with Royals outfielder Drew Waters, trying to steal second base.

His slash line for the season was .295/.394/.492 with eight home runs, 30 RBIs, seven stolen bases and 34 runs scored. Teel said that he was surprised when he heard the news of getting called from Charlotte Knights manager Sergio Santos.

This has been a dream come true for Kyle Teel, who has credited his consistency and will to battle the odds for a fight for the MLB spotlight. Chicago White Sox general manager Chris Getz praised the 23-year-old for being a “well-rounded player”.

Getz complimented how Teel has maintained his records on getting better at at-bats, getting on bases and quick judgment. Team’s catching coach Drew Butera expressed the same, saying, how he’s “in the right position for sure.”
