Kyle Teel, Born on February 15, 2002, is recognized as a college baseball catcher for the Virginia Cavaliers and is an upcoming prospect for the 2023’s MLB Draft. Hailing from Mahwah, he had been drafted in the 2020’s MLB season but was left unselected during the rounds. After graduating from Mahwah High School, Kyle played summer collegiate baseball for the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters of the Northwoods League, batting an average of .335/ .416/.526 with 70 hits, nine home runs, and 41 RBIs in 209 at-bats.

In 2019, Kyle posted a 3-0 record, having secured three saves and a 0.60 run average for the Mahwah, along with a consistent .574 batting average with 31RBI, scoring eight home runs, totaling 29 runs.

As of 2023, he has been named First Team All-American by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper and voted to be the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year, and It’s UVA’s first Player of the Year since 2006 (Sean Dottle), and third overall; Kyle was entitled to one of 13 semifinalists for the Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Award, and it’s UVA’s first semifinalist since 2016 (Matt Thaiss).

In 2019, he batted an average of .574, scoring 35 runs for 61 hits, securing eight homers and 31 RBIs, and posted an on-base percentage of .678, a slugging percentage of 1.164, striking out twice and drawing 21 walks. He went 3-0 with three saves and batted 16 in 11.2 innings.

Kyle was also one of 80 players getting an invite to the Major League Baseball Prospect Development Pipeline League in August 2019. Also, Kyle earned his nomination as 2019’s Second Team All-State selection shortstop and as 2020’s New Jersey Gatorade Player of the Year.
