The Toronto Blue Jays were one of the initial teams to have their meeting with superstar free agent Juan Soto. The meeting reportedly went well, and the club offered him a contract.
However, they were among five teams to have submitted an offer to Soto. The other teams include the New York Yankees, New York Mets, Boston Red Sox and the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Being one of the first teams to offer Soto a contract is exactly what the club needed to do. Acquiring him would instantly boost the team's lineup moving forward. According to Baseball America, this is what their lineup could look like next season;
- George Springer
- Juan Soto
- Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
- Spencer Horwitz
- Bo Bichette
- Daulton Varsho
- Alejandro Kirk
- Will Wagner
- Ernie Clement
That would be a lineup that would strike fear into opposing pitchers. With Springer, Soto and Guerrero Jr. at the top, there could be some instant fireworks to start ballgames.
Blue Jays make Juan Soto their priority after missing out on Shohei Ohtani last offseason
Last offseason, the Blue Jays tried their best to land Shohei Ohtani. However, as we all know, Ohtani went on to sign a monster deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
With everything the fanbase went through last offseason, the fanbase may not get their hopes up, but they should. Toronto has the talent and the money to get a deal done.
They also have the Dominican influence of Vladimir Guerrero Jr. The duo alongside Fernando Tatis Jr. grew up together chasing their dreams of becoming MLB stars.
The Toronto front office knows just how good a player Soto is and how he could change the team's fortunes. They could be a team that surprises many fans this offseason.
