The Marlins and their fans held their breath as their star remained in pain on the ground. While he was slow to get up, he was able to walk off the field on his own. He was attended to by the team's medical staff before he walked off the field.

The Bahamian star attempted to steal second base in the first inning following a leadoff single. However, Twins starter and former Marlins pitcher Pablo Lopez stepped off the mound and threw it to second baseman Kyle Farmer. During the play, Jazz collided with Farmer's left shin, leaving him in pain on the ground.

"Well, this sucks. Jazz Chisholm Jr. in tears coming off the field with a shoulder injury. Hope it’s a matter of just popping it back in or something. Would hate for him to miss significant time." - Jared Carrabis

Judging by Jazz Chisholm's reaction to the incident, it was widely believed that the center fielder would wind up on the IL. However, according to Jazz himself, he is not expected to miss significant time. He is currently listed as day-to-day.

However, the Miami Marlins may approach the situation with caution given the fact that Chisholm was limited to 60 games last season. After beginning last season in All-Star fashion, Chisholm was limited to 60 games with a stress fracture in his lower back. He later underwent surgery to repair his right meniscus.
