LA Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani's maiden postseason series was a nail-biter and he ended up on the winning side. His team defeated the San Diego Padres in the NLDS to punch the ticket to face the New York Mets in the NLCS.

The Mets entered the postseason as big underdogs, but so far, they seem to be the dark horses.

As things progress, the Dodgers are slated to play the Mets in the best-of-seven series for the NL pennant. Following a rest day on Saturday, the NLCS Game 1 is scheduled for Sunday at Dodger Stadium. Ohtani will look forward to having a more impactful performance than in the recently concluded division series.

Shohei Ohtani next faces Mets challenge. The slugger has been exceptional against the NLCS opponents as he is .361 with 13 hits, three homers, 10 RBIs and 11 runs in 10 games.

How did Shohei Ohtani perform in the NLDS?

While Shohei Ohtani did have an okay series, with the kind of lofty standards he has set himself, many would feel the Dodgers slugger wasn't at his typical best, especially after the record-breaking offensive performance he had in the regular season.

NLDS Game 1 registered his best performance as he went 2-5, where he recorded a home run to help the Dodgers win 7-5. In Game 2's blowout loss, he went hitless in four plate appearances, including being strikeout twice.

In Game 3, Shohei Ohtani could only record one hit and was struck out twice. The following game, he managed to drive in a run after going 1-4 at the plate.

Game 5 saw his worst performance of the series he went hitless in four plate appearances, which also included being struck out three times.

Overall, Shohei Ohtani batted .200 with four hits, a homer, four RBIs and three runs in five games. The Dodgers will be hoping for a better output from their $700 million superstar in the last hurdle before the World Series.
