Injuries have hit the Los Angeles Dodgers hard this season and the club is now on the lookout for alternatives. The Dodgers' infield has been decimated with Gavin Lux, Miguel Rojas and Miguel Vargas all missing games due to injury.

The season is less than 10 days old and the Dodgers look to be in trouble. They will need to find a quick solution. Utility man Chris Taylor started in the shortstop position with Mookie Betts starting at second base versus the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday. The club used the same combination against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday.

Per a recent article in Bleacher Report, a MLB writer believes a trade between the Dodgers and New York Yankees could be beneficial to both sides. Brandon Scott proposed a trade between the two organizations that sees Gleyber Torres head west in exchange for J.D. Martinez.

MLB fans took to Twitter to debate whether the move makes sense for the two clubs.

Most fans believe a straight swap between the two clubs is not an even trade.

Gleyber Torres finished with 24 home runs and 76 RBIs last season. He has come out firing this year with two home runs, six RBIs, a .421 batting average and a 1.349 OPS.

Meanwhile, J.D. Martinez is off to a so-so start with the Los Angeles Dodgers. After seven games, he has a .231/.310/.462 slash line and a .772 OPS.

Torres is also verstaile enough to play in several positions. Martinez will likely be used exclusively as a DH.

Despite the Dodgers starting 4-2, there are concerns about the depth of the lineup.

The departure of two-time All-Star and World Series champion Trea Turner has left a hole in the infield. Lux was supposed to start in the shortstop position this year. Veteran Miguel Rojas was added from the Miami Marlins as cover. Both players are currently on the sidelines.

The Los Angeles Dodgers will almost certainly have to dip into the market for infield cover. They possess one of the best farm systems in the country and have plenty of trading pieces. The New York Yankees could be an ideal club to negotiate with as the season progresses.
