Hassan Diarra is a college basketball guard for the UConn Huskies, a team from the Big East Conference. He is in his fifth year, as of the 2024-2025 season. Diarra was ranked as a four-star recruit and No. 1 player in Connecticut by 247Sports and ESPN and attended Putnam Science Academy for three seasons. He helped his side to the National Prep Championship twice, once in 2018-19 and then again in 2019-20. Diarra became the school’s all-time leading scorer after recording 1,469 points. He started his high school career with Holy Cross in Queens, N.Y., and stayed there for two seasons. He averaged 13.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 4.1 assists while playing AAU ball with the PSA Cardinals on the Nike EYBL Circuit.

Diarra attended 18 games as a freshman in 2020-21 when he averaged 5.8 points, 2.1 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.1 steals, and shot .350 overall. As a sophomore, he attended all 40 games for Texas A&M and started three of them. He averaged 6.2 points, 1.8 rebounds, 1.4 assists, shooting .370 overall, and led the Aggies to a 27-13 record and to the championship game of the NIT. He moved to UConn for his junior year after spending two seasons at Texas A&M, where he attended 58 games, starting nine, and averaged 351 career points, grabbing 108 rebounds, with 86 assists, 47 steals, and shooting .363 overall. In his junior year, he attended 36 games and started three. He averaged 2.1 points, 1.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists per game. In the 2023-24 season, Diarra won the 2024 BIG EAST Sixth Man Award. He attended all 40 games and averaged 6.1 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game in 19.3 minutes per game.
