Tahaad Pettiford is a college basketball player, playing as a point guard for the Auburn Tigers from the Southeastern Conference in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Pettiford is in his freshman year, as of March 2025. Pettiford was a five-star recruit and one of the top players in the country during his high school years. He graduated from Hudson Catholic Regional High School in 2024 and lettered in the sport. 247 Sports ranked him as the No. 2 point guard and No. 21 overall player in the Class of 2024. The college basketball player was named a 2024 McDonald’s High School All-American. During his senior year, Pettiford averaged 20 points, five assists, and two steals per game.

Pettiford took part in the NBPA Top 100 Camp and was selected as a Pangos All-American. He played four seasons at Hudson Catholic and concluded his career with 1,135 points, 160 assists, and 74 steals. As a junior, he averaged 17.0 points per game and won all-state third-team honors and a county championship title as a sophomore. Some of the career honors he has achieved are McDonald's High School All-American and Jordan Brand Classic Boys National Team, both in 2024. He also played AAU basketball for New Heights Lightning where he recorded 33.5 percent shooting from the 3-point line. Additionally, Pettiford averaged 13.3 points per game in 2023.

Panini America, the world’s largest sports and entertainment collectibles company 2024 announced through the Panini America blog that they had agreed to an “exclusive, multi-year partnership with six of the top high school basketball players in the country,” and Tahaad Pettiford was one of those six players. According to the blog, the deal meant “trading cards and memorabilia” for each player.
