Fantastic Four casting rumors have been running rampant for a while, as many actors have been named for certain roles in the film. So far, only Adam Driver has reportedly been finalized for Reed Richards, and no other actors have bagged the role. Margot Robbie was rumored to be in final talks, but recently, insider Grace Randolph tweeted that it fell off, and there’s still scope for others to bag the role.

Paul Mescal’s name was in the running for Human Torch, but nothing has been heard about him since. Most importantly, The Thing also has a new actor in contention, as the gender-swapped version of Mila Kunis will not be a thing!

Daveed Diggs is in talks for The Thing in Fantastic Four

Up until now, reports suggested that Marvel was looking to hire a Jewish actor for The Thing. Later, Twitter scooper MyTimetoShineHello claimed that Marvel was looking for both males and females to play The Thing, and Mila Kunis was in talks for the role. However, according to her latest scoop, Kunis is out, and Hamilton actor Daveed Diggs is the top choice for now.

Besides Hamilton, Diggs is also known for his voice gigs in animated features such as Zootopia, DC League of Super-Pets, and Ferdinand. In 2023, he’ll be heard in The Little Mermaid as Sebastian. So, his iconic voice could prove to be an interesting choice for The Thing in the upcoming MCU movie featuring Marvel's first family.

Before her latest scoop regarding The Thing, MyTimetoShineHello also claimed that The Mask of Zorro star Antonio Banderas was in talks to voice the ultimate Marvel big bad, Galactus. Before this, he almost ended up playing Mr. Sinister in The New Mutants. But that role was canceled. Instead, he could become an even bigger MCU big bad.

Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, in which he had a pivotal role, brought him his most recent success. However, there has been no official confirmation of his Galactus portrayal up to this point. Therefore, the scoop should still be regarded with a grain of salt.

The initial release date of Fantastic Four was November 8, 2024, and MCU’s Spider-Man trilogy director Jon Watts was supposed to direct it. But after No Way Home, he left the film behind to take a break from Marvel, and further delays pushed the movie to 2025.

Now, WandaVision director Matt Shakman has taken on the directorial duties for the film, and Avatar 2 writer Josh Friedman has been hired to pen the script for the MCU’s Fantastic Four. Meanwhile, the previous draft of Fantastic Four, written by Ian Springer and Jeff Kaplan, has been tossed out.

Besides Adam Driver, none of the other actors have been confirmed yet. But the likes of Vanessa Kirby and Jodie Comer could come back into the mix for Sue Storm.

Fantastic Four is set to release on February 14, 2025.
